Q: It states that it is made in China. Is this real?

It smells exactly like the Gentleman cologne my husband wore over 40 years ago. Givenchy is a French company and many, many companies farm out their labor to China.

Q: Does this still have the distinct lavender scent as the 1070s original?

Yes, same scent as the 1970’s original. Great scent for day or night use, a suit or jeans and a t-shirt. It’s been a favorite of mine for years!!

Q: At a department store, the lable reads: (1st line) givenchy (2nd line) gentleman. this shows the reverse. a "knock-off" issue?

There are 2 versions: An old one which is Givenchy Gentleman, black box. and a new version from 2017 or so with is Gentleman by Givenchy, white box. for some reason this seller is showing the new one but sending the old one.

I bought this item, but it turned out to be (Givenchy Eau de Toilette Originale) which is a different bottle.The seller put a product code of the featured bottle (in picture) on another Givenchy bottle which is different in looks, scent and cheaper price.
