My New Favorite Strobe
I was really excited to get the AD400 Pro because I had loved using the original AD600BM and the Pro seemed like a very nice upgrade. I didnāt really need the full power of the 600 and I heard the 400 was almost as bright as the original AD600, so I decided to get this one and take advantage of the smaller size, included carrying case and exchangeable mount.Right out of the box Iām really glad to have the carrying case, it just makes bringing it on location so much easier. Iām also glad that everything fits back in the case after switching to the Bowens mount, even with the bulb, reflector and cap attached. Compared to the AD600, the light itself is around the same weight but I can easily grab it in one hand which I couldnāt do with the 600. That makes it much easier to carry around on set. The AD200 is also very portable of course, but the case doesnāt really fit the parts as nicely as this does, especially the flash tube, which needs to be taken out. The charger canāt fit either and I always thought that case was kind of useless- but not with the AD400 Pro. (As a side note using the AD400 with Bowens mount accessories is also much easier than with the AD200, and the color consistency is improved too.)The AD400 Pro was about 2/3 stop less powerful than my original AD600 when I tested them, but the modeling light is far brighter which is much more important for me personally. Having that modeling light is really helpful for focusing in darker scenes and I love having both full percentage control of the power as well as a proportional setting- especially useful for visualizing multiple light setups. While the original AD600 did have a TTL version, I didnāt have it. I am really glad to have that as a standard feature on the Pro model now, itās really convenient in quick shoots or changing environments, plus the TCM function with the Xpro trigger makes setup extremely quick even without a light meter. There are tons of other small touches with a significant impact that make it a worthy upgrade as well. Thereās the color-accurate mode, more accurate 1/10 power adjustments, slightly faster recycle times, a slightly shorter flash duration and a nice handle to help adjust the angle (this comes in extra handy since the angle adjustment is no longer clicked like the original AD600).Everything else I loved about the AD600/AD200 such as high speed sync and fairly impressive recycle times has been carried over into this, and all in all I think this is pretty much the perfect strobe and the perfect upgrade for the AD600. The AD600 Pro would only really be necessary if you find yourself always pushing the limits of the original AD600ās output or battery life, and Iād only go down to the AD200 if you want to work more with speedlight or AD200 specific modifiers. The actual size of the AD200 could be a benefit of course but in a lot of cases it might be more trouble than itās worth compared to the simple and robust AD400 Pro.Donāt mind the faces in the sample pictures; most of my clients donāt want their photos used for public posts, so my kids āhelpedā me take some samples for this.

Important! Buyer Beware of Battery!
I purchased this Godox AD400 Pro in 2019, right before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before things were shut down, it was my āgo toā flash for indoor portraiture. I loved the thing. But I was unable to continue indoor work until just a few weeks ago. Now I discover that the battery that was included no longer charges! In fact, the charging brick DOES NOT EVEN REGISTER that the battery is connected. It is clearly defective.I went to the manufacturerās website and contacted support and explained the problem via email and received NO RESPONSE. And just so you know, a replacement battery currently costs $170 on Amazon, which is more than some new Speedlite flash kits. I would warn ANYONE against purchasing this flash for the following reasons:* Defective battery* Unresponsive customer support* Expensive replacement

Perfect Light?
It's enough power, yet dials back enough, that I can use it on 95% of my jobs. Very versatile, the LED modeling light is very useful and easy to turn back off via the Xpro remote. Modifiers are easy to come by and very affordable. The mount can be either the proprietary Godox or the Bowens and you can change that out very quickly. For location work I think it's my favorite light. I use PCB Einsteins in my studio, they don't travel well. This light travels great!I highly recommend the AD400PRO

Just exactly as described, great product š
I had some issues because I unplugged it and stored for a few days, when I tried to charge it wasnāt doing anything, I let it charging for a few days and went back to normal, now I just charge it randomly. All the features and specs work wonderful! Couldnāt ask for more!

Amazing light - tremendous value and capability!
Iām in the process of replacing my Bowens lighting kit with something lighter and more portable as I do a lot of photo shoots on location and tired of carrying my heavy Monolights + battery packs. I already bought two AD200Pro, which are great but wanted to add something a bit more powerful so that I could overpower the sun from a greater distance. I canāt believe how compact and powerful this strobe is! My old strobes also did not have TTL and HSS, which means It will make my life so much easier and add a lot more options when I use lighting. I love this light! Itās the perfect combination of power and size!

Awesome light, horrible battery
I purchased this in September of 2020, conducted one shoot with it, and charged it for another this week and the battery is completely unresponsive. So, so, so disappointed. Because here I go, and am purchasing another battery that hopefully will last longer than one shoot. At $170 a pop, it becomes a very expensive brick for sure. I purchased a wired studio light (another Godox 200) and it is a fantastic light that was much less than this replacement battery!

Missing screws that hold bowens mount to head.
Updated review on aug 23, 2020The seller sent me another one very fast. That shows they stand on their reputation. Mistakes do happen, but I appreciate business that Care enough to take care of their clients. The light works very great and right for my job. I use it everyday and it works perfect every time (only great when it has all the parts thatās supposed to come with). I would recommend this product to everyone.$700 light missing critical parts to use. Need screws that hold bowens mount adapter to head. Please send immediately. Very dissapointing.
