A yummy & affordable cruelty-free protein!
I really love this protein b/c it is low fat and very high protein and very affordable. I also love it b/c I can throw it in the pantry (rather than taking up space in the fridge) and it will still be good for year! It is an excellent meal idea for camping because this protein easily rehydrates within minutes. I rehydrate this in a faux chicken broth and it is delicious. After rehydrating the protein pieces, they are soft and chewy. To get the outside to crisp up you have to sautee or fry them on the stove top. I usually just rehydrate and throw these pieces on top of my salad. Now, the texture is not "just like" chicken. It doesn't pull apart like chicken so it wont fool anyone if you're trying to sneak it into a meal. If you're looking for an animal-free, cruelty-free plant based protein that DOES look and taste like chicken, check out Daring chicken which is more pricey than this option.

Excellent Vegan High Protein Meat Substitute
This is the best vegan meat substitute I have found. It has no extra ingredients. It is very easy to prepare. It absorbs flavors from seasonings very well. I highly recommend if you are looking for a minimally processed high protein vegan meat substitute.

Good texture, takes other flavorings well, may leave you gassy.
If I consumed too much (read, more than 3oz after cooking in one sitting) I became gassy, which is understandable as likely much of the texture vegetable protein is bean-based.

Easy, soaks up any flavor, but a little chewy
The plainness is perfect to allow you to create whatever flavor profile you need for your dish. Very easy to prep, blends into a range of dishes. The only thing is that it ends up a bit on the chewy side, but compared to many other alternatives, it’s a good option.

Great texture, good base for flavor.
It's a very versatile product for vegan protein. The macro balance is fantastic, especially when paired with veggies. I use this for Asian and Latin inspired dishes, and it works great. Pair it with a good vegan broth of choice, and it'll fulfill all your needs. The texture is good and can be adjusted to how you cook it. It takes on flavors well and does well with reduced sauces. It's one of my three go-to protein sources.

Addicting
Here's how I prep them-80 g tvp240 g (1 cup) water2 bullion cubes1/4 tsp msg (can probably sub out with soy sauce or something)onion powdergarlic powderMicrowave the above in a bowl for 4-5 minutes.Heat up skillet with oil and cook until browned on both sides. SO delicious and versatile! Serves 3-2 people.I microwave extra and store it in the fridge for up to a few days, then pan fry it right before serving. I usually have it with broccoli, sometimes with general tsao sauce, also had it a couple times with bbq sauce in a sandwich. Adjust the sodium you add in the first step if you plan on adding sauce.

It's a great start
I love this stuff as a meat replacement. It needs some fat for it to taste good so add some oil or butter when hydrating. My only problem is that the small pieces NEVER hydrate properly. It stays firm and hard no matter what recipe or cook time. The big pieces are perfect but the small ones feel like rocks in your dish. or like a hard bean. Not pleasant at all.
