I was not sleeping well before I got this machine. As my physician told me I could try white noise to get some help. I used to use my phone to play it, but the app run battery out fast. So I fond this sleep machine on amazon. It's much more better than my expectations, I can choose different music besides white noise, it covers several nature sound. It helps me sleep better and sometimes get me peace. It could take batteries to work or just use the charger comeso with. In my opinion, it's very helpful. Would recommend.

Loud? Absolutely. Soothing? I think not. I like the design of the machine and it certainly seemed to help block out noise, but it wasn't something that my husband and I wanted to listen to. There are multiple sound options but each - aside from the funky music - is essentially white noise with some background nature sounds. I am returning this item, and I bought a Marcpac "wish" (49.99 at Buy Buy Baby where I could test it out) to replace it. It's a little more expensive, but the sound quality is infinitely better. If you're just looking to block out noises, this will do the trick. But if you're looking for something that is also soothing, I suggest looking elsewhere.
