On the closest distance focus it has about 1.5 centimetres of depth of field. The lens can focus as close as 4 centimetres of the lens.2.7 centimetres are aproximately 1 inchFocusing on an object 4 metres away, the depth of field is about 1.5 metres.1 metre is aproximately 39.5 inchesThese values are taken with the lens set on 2.8 mm.When set on 12mm, the values are lower. About 1 centimetre on close focus and 70 centimetres (27.5 inches) when focusing at a distance of 4 metres.Hope it helps

Q: Is the varifocal adjustment manual or motorized?

Both the focus and focal length are manual adjustments. Each has a small finger screw you can loosen to adjust the lense and tighten once set.
