Unit supplies an incredible boost to guitar or microphone, works really well with H9.With a classical guitar you may need to cut the low end to get rid of the hum.Luckily my mixer has a low frequency cut.Classical guitar was sweet, very warm.Every guitar I tried with it sounded betterI have a Moog guitar that has a very weak signal, it really improved the sound.They made very difficult to put in a battery you have to unscrew the back panel.Phantom power does not work without a battery.If you really boost up volume with Mic it will pick up every noize in the roomSo U really need to cut low frequency's

I bought this little mic preamp to be able to use stompbox effects through my vocal mic. It works great, with one major flaw. It is noisy. There is an audible hiss as soon as you hook up this little box. I thought I could deal with it, but it's a hiss that I just can't accept. My 30 day return has just expired, so I guess I should have acted earlier. I contacted Eventide, but have not heard back. Perhaps it's a defective unit.UPDATE: I contacted Amazon, and they have arranged a replacement unit. Thank you, Amazon. That's some great customer service. Meanwhile, Eventide has yet to respond to emails or phone messages.SECOND UPDATE: Second unit was equally noisy. Still no response from Eventide. I'd skip this unit.

This thing is great. The preamp sounds great on it, and the ability to get some of your original sound into any effects you had coming back.

this works very well

I'm only mad I wasted so much time futzing around before I got this unit. If you want to use effects pedals with a horn (sax, trumpet, flute, etc), this is absolutely perfect.
