great for small studios or live drum snake
I have a total of 3 of these, they are quite handy! I use 2 for my project studio, and 1 for a live drum snake. The cases are metal and sturdy. they even come with a cover to protect the inputs while traveling.

Keep it for stationary use
This was ordered for use as a permanent hookup on my home studio recording interface. It is a cheap, affordable snake with realistic uses. As far as a live gig performance snake, I would avoid this as it will break down quick with heavy set up and regular wear and tear. I would spend the money for something more durable with rubber XLR ends - this is crucial. The plastic XLR male ends are the worst thing you can have on a snake much less any regular XLR cable. The will break and need to be replaced very quick. However, studio use its fine because I plan to hook it up and not touch it. All and all that is my take on it. Buy it, but be aware of what you are using it for and your needs. Studio setup is fine - Live setting with constant setup and breakdown, not so much. I took a point off for how cheap it is made and the presumed durability.

Excellent quality
I have bought the same make, 12 channel, before. I have had no problems with that one and believe the same with this one. Very well put together.

Works at first / Low Quality / get what you pay for
I have owned this for about 2.5 years. I moved it from one studio to another twice during that time.Lines 7 and 8 have now completely died. Hindsight 20/20, I now wish I had paid a little more for something of higher quality. The only way I could recommend this is if you plan to keep it permanently in one place.

Excellent sound system piece
Perfect for what we needed. It was the perfect size and length, with plenty of plugs. Great buy too.

Low Quality Product
I purchased this snake knowing that the quality might not be the greatest, but I needed it fast and the price was right. Upon receiving the unit, I found the box much better than expected. It has a solid metal housing, and the jacks seem fairly sturdy. But the XLR male end connectors are very low quality. Their sleeves are all plastic and break easily. This was the first thing to go wrong, as one of the connectors broke at a gig. At that point I accepted the fact that I'd probably have to replace them all eventually. But then a channel went completely bad at gig. Okay, I had an extra channel so I used that. A couple gigs later, another channel went bad. Now I'm thinking of simply replacing the whole thing. I can't afford to have unreliable gear like this at shows. My stuff has got to work.I like the size of this snake, and if it had been more reliable it would have been perfect. As it stands, I simply can't rely on it. I'll have to overhaul the thing and fix it myself, or just replace it. Either way, it's been more trouble than expected, certainly not worth the money I "saved" buying a cheaper unit. Lesson learned.UPDATE: Since I wrote this, another channel has gone bad. I've revised my rating to one star. I'd give less if I could.
