Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel UK publishing's most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures...if they can all survive a deadly present.

Mediocre Superhero Film
'Madame Web' follows Cassie Webb, a young woman who discovers her psychic abilities. As she learns to control her powers, she must protect three girls from a villain named Ezekiel Sims, who aims to eliminate them before they can become future Spider-Women. The film follows Cassie's journey of self-discovery and her efforts to safeguard the future of these potential heroes. This was a rather mediocre film that wasn't anything special but neither is it that bad like a lot of reviews have made it out to be. It was certainly entertaining but I feel the whole storyline was rather rushed and the three girls Cassie helps protect needed more character development and to be given more to do. The editing and special effects can sometimes come across clucky and distracting, and the villain Ezekiel Sims was also underwhelming and could have been portrayed better. On a more positive side it did have a few suspenseful and cleaver moments such as when Cassie has to use her ability of seeing the future to save the girls. Dakota Johnson also gave an amusing performance as Cassie. Overall, this isn't the best superhero film but I doubt it's the worst and it still manages to be entertaining.

Madame Web - Bonus X-Ray Edition
I read a scathing review of this movie before we had the chance to view it. People who get paid to foist their opinion on the unsuspecting public. Words like 'scarcely believable story line', and 'convoluted'.....This is Just another Marvel movie, as soon as that is taken onboard, it's not that bad, or good. It is JUST A MOVIE. Unbelievable and weird and convoluted stuff happens in make-believe land. We thought it was okay.Spoiler alert: New Marvel movies on the way, with some actors playing different characters, now that is weird. Scarcely believable.

This movie got a lot of unwarranted flack - Its watchable, but falls short of its potential
Given the barrage of negative critiques, my expectations for "Madame Web" were already tempered, which perhaps played to my advantage. The trailer did spark a bit of intrigue, prompting me to give it a go, especially when the hassle and expense of a cinema visit seemed too daunting. Watching it on Amazon Prime for a modest fee seemed like a reasonable compromise. To delve into the details—be warned, there are minor spoilers ahead:The film's protagonist, despite her profession as a paramedic, exhibits surprisingly poor communication and interpersonal skills, almost as if she's navigating human interactions for the first time. Her decision-making leaves much to be desired; she spends a significant portion of the film evading capture in a conspicuously marked stolen cab. The choice to simply remove the license plate and assume anonymity is baffling and pulls you out of the cinematic experience. The narrative heavily leans on a "Groundhog Day" loop mechanism which, frankly, becomes tedious and confusing rather quickly. Unlike films like "Happy Death Day" or "Palm Springs" which cleverly use the time loop to enhance the storytelling, "Madame Web" seems to stumble, making the concept feel more like a gimmick than a meaningful part of the plot.Additionally, the antagonist's motivations and actions are perplexingly illogical, contributing further to a story that struggles to maintain coherence and engagement.Overall, while "Madame Web" had the potential to offer a fresh and mystically intriguing take on the superhero genre, it ultimately falls short due to its underdeveloped characters and a poorly executed narrative structure. It's a watch that might be worth it if your expectations are low and you're looking for an easy, accessible film night in, but don't expect to be thoroughly entertained or intellectually stimulated.

Actually quite a very enjoyable film, better than the early reviews suggested
Excellent. It got terrible reviews on release but I thoroughly enjoyed the film with a very good cast such as Adam Scott and Dakota Johnson. I wonder if we will get a Madame Web 2 though but I would be happy to see it. The bluray was excellent quality and included a decent number of extras such as the stunts, gag roll etc

Decent.
Not entirely from the source material and found that the trailer had revealed pretty much the whole film. However, is a hack decent attempt at making it a good story. This could have been so much better but not with one film. A series would have worked better.
