Incredible value and easier to use than I expected
I love this newest tool for my shop! I am a DIY fellow and my home shop features a wide variety of tools. I recently purchased a IP500-BCC to help me diagnose a problem with my Buick Lucerne. It had a problem with my heater not working and needed to know exactly what the problem was before I tore into it. With the IP500-BCC I was able to use the bi-directional command capabilities to work all the inside the dash components while monitoring the signals going to the system. I have another scanner but it told me nothing but engine codes. I wanted a fully bi-directional unit that would do it all! Unfortunately those units were out of my price range at many hundreds of dollars. That is until I got a IP500-BCC. It is dedicated to GM products so I don’t need to pay for something I just don’t need. I own two GM cars. A Buick and a Cadillac. This does both nicely. While exploring my Lucerne (heater problem was a broken blend door actuator), I also learned it had remote start (I bought it used and didn’t know) I learned it using the live data function in the IP500-BCC while testing all the remote functions. Now, on cold winter days I can warm up the car without going outside to start the car. I would have never learned it without my new IP500. I like the large display and the intuitive menu that walks you through the entire process. Since it features free lifetime software updates, it will always have the best software available. It installed 5 updates as soon as I started the first time. I connected it to my WIFI and it automatically detected all the parameters of my Buick. It even automatically provided a detailed diagnosis report that I can email to myself or anyone else.As soon as I connected the first time, it ran a full diagnostics scan of all systems with a color coded display of problem areas. I had a check engine light but it was simply due to a loose gas cap and I reset the light and ran the tests again. All good!I do like the easy to read design and the logical workflow of the process. Error detection is automatic and vehicle specific. I get virtually dealer level diagnostics in my home shop without paying dealer level prices. The live data function features real time graphics. You select the parameters you want to see and it provides a graph of operation. It is easy to see how various things interact. I am almost looking forward to my next engine problem! I spent several minutes studying various engine parameters and how they interact. It was very educational. This scanner make it easier to understand what is happening inside and how complicated things work.Bottom line, this thing is an excellent value. It does everything I need for my cars and I feel like it is an excellent value. Yes it is designed for GM vehicles only and I have not tried it on a Ford or other, but I believe that XTOOL has created a great tool at a great value because I am not paying for capacity and software I don’t need and would not use. When I finally do need a new car, I will probably get a GM just so I can always maintain it myself with this cool tool! I also have a Grandson that likes cars. With this tool, I can teach him how things work. I plan to use the live data function to teach him how things like mass air flow and temperature interact together to make the injection system work properly. It will be fun and he might even think Grandpa knows his stuff!

Always check for updates.
Works with my 2013 tundra. After many wifi updates when I got it, it found 3 problems I did not know about. its always a good idea to have a good scanner so you know what's up before your go to a dealer to get the truck fixed. Funny, it has a "re-gen" option for diesel truck in the scanner. Good product.

Xtool IP500 OBD2 Scanner For GM Cars
What a deal! Much better than expected at that price. I even lent it to someone I know who teaches Automotive Technology at the local community college and he tried it out on the school’s EV Chevy Bolts. He gave it a five star review to me; impressed by the scanners speed and that it could do what the school’s high end Snap-on and Bosch scanners could do at a fraction of the cost. The students loved it too... easy to use.If you are looking for a well made scanner at a low cost with free updates you can't beat this one. Your other car is not a GM? It can read all the info normally supplied by the OBD2 port like DTCs, fuel trim, etc., etc..

This thing works.
This tool fixed my BMW when nothing else would. Crank, no spark, no injector pulse. Computer lost its mind and this thing fixed it. Best $150 investment I have made for a car.

Big bang for the buck and a very useful scanner
After receiving my XTOOL IP500, I updated the software and was pleased to see how quickly the download went. Then I ran auto scan on my 2017 Buick Regal. The test results of the 24 different system tests were 10 systems failures, containing 22 fault codes. I was very surprised because the service engine light was not on. I down loaded the manual from the Xtool web site and it is very comprehensive and well written. The XTOOL IP500 is Specially designed for Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC automobiles. With the help of the IP500 Manual I found this scanner to be easy to use and very comprehensive.

Low cost but high performance!
Only scanned 3 vehicles so far. This unit will do 95 percent of the functions for BMW of my scanners that cost 8 times more. This unit is not wireless, so it connects faster and powers the scanner. The more expensive units have to boot up and connect via bluetooth or wifi. I will update as I get more vehicles to scan. Easy to use and fast. You save because you ate not paying for vehicles you don't have. My updates for the top of the line scanners I have cost 3-4 times the cost of this unit. So you get a tool that will diagnose and give bi directional control to troubleshoot any problems. Plus you have xtool support, which has not let me down. Just send a message and they will get back to you. I have several Xtool scanners, best bang for the buck. UPDATE 2017 X5 turbo wastegate install, Has service position for motors to remove and install, plus test and calibration. Way more service options then Autel Ultra scan for BMW vehicles, plus costs less then most scanners yearly update fees. BMW owners and mechanics don't pass this one up. Will let you use all the cars built in service functions.
