Really effective trap for small rats and big/greedy squirrels.
Really easy to set, seems pretty sensitive but not so bad that it goes off accidentally. Caught 3 small rats on successive nights. I think an adult rat would fit okay, no chance that our resident squirrel would fit it in though. Peanut butter seems to work well.I just need to add that you can catch a very fat squirrel after all. No idea how how he/she got in there - absolutely filled the cage. Wish I'd taken a photograph.

Works very well easy to set and very well made
Works very well . Caught a squirrel that I didn't want to catch and if I'm honest I'm not sure he was too keen on being caught either. Then caught the rat I was after . Door is a little tricky to open with a wild beast inside it . I used a stick . But once in they can't get out like others

Needs improvement
Unfortunately rats are clever! We've caught several birds and a squirrel but no rat.The trap gets jammed after a few uses so have only given it 3*. The pressed steel plates for the runners distort and open up under use and the door no longer slides freely. I have had to drill a hole on both sides of the pressed steel runners and inserted and tightened nuts and bolts in order to keep the gate runners running straight and true for the cage door to operate - see photo I also added some PTFE tubing on the door lug slide mechanism inside the runners. Since doing these modifications the door works flawlessly, however I have yet to catch a rat.

Please read.
Set up was easy, although the trap door was very sensitive. We have seen a huge rat in our garden several times.,hence the purchase of a trap. No luck catching the rat but caught a sweet hedgehog. We shan’t be using the trap again!Trap does what it says, hedgehog was released without harm.

Ratty's lucky day
The media could not be loaded. It's big and strong, relatively easy to set once you figure it out. Worked first time. I set it and left it overnight. I used brie cheese and covered trap with old rag. Best to place bait THEN set trap. I released Ratty far from habitation. Everyone happy.2 weeks later and no luck. Patience required. Rats are clever but curious so I set the traps to not catch and left food wrapped in paper. After 3 days of food untouched I found one parcel had gone so I reset to 'catch'... and BINGO. I let this one go in the woods. It's not easy to open the door when you are afraid of being bitten and this young rat was feisty. After a lot of fiddling I succeeded but I need to practice that a bit.

Looks the part but isn’t up to the job
This trap doesn’t work. Twice now the ‘unexpected guest’ has entered and left the trap with the treat. The trap door lever didn’t even move the trap door when it was weighed down with a custard cream biscuit and the weight of the rodent.

Check the dimensions - not suitable for squirrels
Please beware it is a good trap for rats and mice but far too small for squirrels ( bar baby ones) and would stress adult squirrels. Really shouldn't be advertised for squirrels.

Well made cage
Well made cage for catching vermin it says if you catch a gray squirrel you can't let it go you have to dispatch it humanly as they are invasive species i didn't catch mine in loft it just escaped I think but will leave in place for future
