I thought these were great! Worked great past 4 years … but this year there is a NYC SUPER pigeon… heard him on my balcony and was perplexed… open the sliding door and he was standing ON the spikes on the railing looking at me like “what?” Man listen I am leaving these up great fit width and length with great snap to customize length… but adding the taller metal ones to the configuration too this year for the super hero birds. lol (I live one block from the Atlantic ocean sooo I’m happy it worked as long as it has)This item works great on regular pigeons, seagulls / pelicans with some sense and decorum; and works extremely well on the tweety baby birds (although I didn’t mind them too much they sound pretty in the morning); and worked to deter my neighbor’s cat that used to go from balcony to balcony.

After a fruitless series of battles with the local gang of squirrels raiding my bird feeder, I stumbled upon this product whilst searching for a better squirrel deterrent and figured it would be ideal to stop them climbing the 2x4 post. They arrived promptly enough and were a snap to install (literally in a good way). Once I covered the entire post including the top, I eagerly set up a vigil to watch the impending fun (but forgot the camera, alas.) Within minutes, one of those furry tailed menaces appeared, hopped right on to the heavily spiked post, climbed right up the spikes and then sat upon the very spiked top of the post. For several minutes. Without injury. Then the bugger easily walked along the cable and onto the feeder. Great squirrel deterrent you have. Oh.. and some birds seem to love to roost right on the same spiked post. I'd ask for a refund, but in my confidence, tore up the box they came in. In the end, a simple trash can lid suspended over the feeder works perfectly. Total cost: 4.99.

The product is as described and is decent quality. My problem is that the birds just nested right on top of these like they weren’t there. It was a very determined family of robins.

So, I to this to stop squirrels from shimmying down the attachment cord for my hanging bird feeder. This has been a two year war with many squirmishes.First, I put a single row of spikes without super good double-sided attachment tape. The squirrel was furious, chattering and cursing me. Splayed himself out on the deck table so I could see his anger and resentment. By the next day, using his itty-bitty but ever so strong squirrel muscles, he had ripped off the strip and was merrily chomping away at birdseed.Armed with the double-sided tape, I put three strips up, thinking he couldn't get around three feet of reverse Maginot line. Ha. That was cake for him. I shooed him away and put up another line of spikes perpendicular to the ones on the roof. Ha! Smugly, I began presenting at an online conference. Lo and behold, somehow, he wended his way around. Since I couldn't shoo him away, he got to binge for over an hour. The beast!Finally, I put a set of spikes in the loop of the cord. It seems to be working. I haven't seen the little miscreant in the feeder since! Wahoo.... but not using the spikes as they were meant to be used!

I had high hopes that this product would keep the house sparrows from building their nests under my deck. Install was easy and the spikes are sharp but the house sparrows are still rebuilding their nests on top of the spikes. Back to the drawing board. I think this product would deter less stubborn birds but the house sparrows are extremely determined.

I bought these last spring and installed on our deck too deter robins from nesting. Initially, it seemed to work and the robin left. This spring the robins are just building right on top of the spikes! Now we need to get something completely different. They aren't working at all to stop the nest building.

I wanted something non-metallic, but still kept the birds from nesting in our rafters. This does the job fairly well. I was concerned about metal devices rusting and potentially interfering with normal home maintenance. This product provides a good balance between safety and effectiveness.
