I bought this to enable me to connect an ancient TV to headphones (my new neighbour hates the sound of the TV.) This unit worked perfectly out of the box, and powers my Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro very well.Happy neighbour, happy owner.

making use of a sale and a coupon I bagged this for £170 from another site, but even at full price in Amazon it's unbeatable at the price.exceptional build quality for the price, amazing amount of inputs, this is clearly capable of being the digital hub of any system. sounds crystal clear and transparent. the filters are typically like others using this chip set and to my ears completely indistinguishable from each other, the sound colour are however very subtle and useful. on overly bright sounding recordings, tube 3 just took enough harshness off the sound. definitely worth experimenting with those. Yiu can spend three time's the cost and more on DACs, including from SMSL/topping. Even with the most critical listening, I honestly think you'd be hard pressed to tell any sonic differences between this and the more expensive options. This one is so feature rich, it's hard to imagine a better performer in your system.headphone amp seems decent, but I'm not a big headphone user so can't really comment.for the price, it's versatility will take some beating!one niggle - in fixed output mode, it would have been nice to get rid of the large volume numbers and replace with bit/sample rate data. if the interface was like that, this would be the only dac/headphones amp you'd need in most systems, including some pretty high end ones.
