MTX 5500 Dual 4 ohm
The media could not be loaded. This is a cost-effective bass set up. I use to run an Alpine SWR-8D4 which actually played some notes better than this. Then again I didn't rebuild the box for the MTX5500 so I can't judge it but power wise just goes to show you that real watt rms is how your music set up. I'm using a Hifonics Thor 500.1 and it gets this mtx's coil hot! (500.2 shown in the pic is mids). My amp draw is between 22-25A and battery voltage always sits at 13.5vdc. That's 280-340 real wrms power. do your math...choose your speakers and amps wisely. spend wisely. play nicely. I have enough music and my pocket and car lights are not dim.p.s. mine was mtx 5500 dual 4 ohmcheers

Always delivers
For the price, this sub delivers. MTX has always delivered for me, even back to 1995! I am not living with blinders on; there are other really solid bass companies out there. But, my MTX subs have always delivered HARD-HITTING bass for the price. I have: 1 dual 4 ohm 5500 12in (vented box), Hertz high end. All hooked up to MTX Jackhammer 700.5 amp. It is in my extended cab of my Tacoma. And it hits hard. Like...I haven't even gotten to it's limit yet because it just gets too loud and I have to turn it down without reaching the limit! And that is just ONE 12. Pound for pound (and cost wise) MTX will come through for you.Hint: VENT the box. It needs breathing room. And make the vent deep like for my 12in the vent is 36HZ.A friend of mine had Rockford and they ALWAYS had sound issues (eventually tore).I do respect JL, orion and Kicker. But the MTX will come through! And I don't know about when people talk about it "breaking" or "tearing"...I have owned 4 sets of MTX subs in the last 24yrs (RT Pro, Black Gold, original 8000 series, and the 5500)...they NEVER quit on me.
