Best textile book I've read
I've looked at various patchwork and textile books over the years and this is definitely the one that has been the most enjoyable and useful. It is clearly written and beautifully illustrated. It begins with general guidelines including tools, finding inspiration and ideas for composition all of which are simply described and practical. The main highlights for me are the three projects which she describes in detail so that they can be achieved by you or me. While I have seen projects in other books they didn't appeal enough for me to get round to doing them but this time I did. Even better the list of suppliers at the end of the book means that you can find some of the unusual items which make all the difference.I have just finished my first project and was delighted with how it went. It was my second attempt as the first one started to go off kilter so I used that to practise on. If you like Alison's work you will absolutely love this book. Not only will you be able to make similar projects but you will be equipped to explore and develop your own ideas as you progress.
