The idea is that you are supposed to squeeze this in your hand while giving birth in order to redirect your pain elsewhere. I've been using it in a similar fashion when I have a headache or cramps to focus on the pressure in my hand over the pain elsewhere.

I cannot speak to how this comb helps or not in labor, but I do have another labor comb that is more of a name brand. These are very similar. This one is more reasonably priced. I also think it could be a cute gift for a kiddo because the affirmation is somewhat general. It is sturdy and seems well made. I would like more information about the sourcing of the wood, though. I have never heard of a birthing comb before. The birthing comb looks very nice. The wooden comb has an ergonomic design with a supportive and encouraging message, “you are the best“. My niece is pregnant and I hope this comb will help relieve some labor pain and provide some comfort. This will be a very interesting gift!
