great tool
As a beginner wood turner, this is perfectly capable of letting me create some basic turnings. It took some adjustment to work with my drill press, but I got it working pretty quickly.Excellent way to add some lathing capability to a your drill press.Great attachment, sturdy, expect to make modifications (shorten tool rest, screws too long or short). . Order chisels, because you'll want to try it right away ! Makes mountains of sawdust. Glad I purchased. Its been fun trying new things. I was even able to make pencil holders for my friends art class. It was fast and easy with this amazing tool. I recommend this to all men

Not sturdy or well-designed.. Really *NOT* a good idea
I bought this almost 3 years ago thinking I'd use it to make some custom "Wizard Wands" for my family. Due to some life events, I didn't get around to trying it out until a few weeks ago.The kit wasn't missing any pieces or parts, but It does not go together well. once assembled, it doesn't secure properly to the drill press table without shims, and the tool rest itself is simply not sturdy. I had issues with the length of the bolts and bolt heads preventing it from being tightened down and then flexing even after it's all cinched down. It is also very fussy to get centered, but I was able to get that part to work. I tried to use this setup to smooth down a piece of knobby cedar and the tool rest/bar flexed under any sort of pressure. I could see this thing bending or breaking and sending your hand and tool into a spinning chunk of wood to break fingers and mangle a hand.Just no. This is thing is dangerous. Save up for a mini-lathe and save yourself a trip to the ER.I'm pretty disappointed to see that I paid nearly $40 for this wonderful opportunity to injure myself. I guess I'll use the steel parts for something else, but I would NOT recommend using this thing as-is.

Worked like a charm
Just arrived tonight. I gave it a whirl on my craftsman drill press. Pretty easy to set up. A few reviews mentioned weird lengths screws. This is true, but a quick work around is just to put an extra washer (provided) plus one more (not provided) under the screw that attaches to the arm.

Works, in theory but not out of box
The way this is designed, there are holes to secure to drill table. Fine. However, they are also holes tapped to secure the tool rest. Super bad design. The tapped holes no matter what you do out of the box, are too close to the mounting holes and hardware. As such the tool rest cannot be attached in a meaningful way. I've started grinding the base of the tool holder, getting close. Waste of money I'm afraid, unless you like the challenge.

Solid stuff... make sure your drill is up to it
This did not work at all for me. The product is fine, but my drill press wasn’t up to it. It is a good solid product however. If you have a serious drillpress (better than my 100$ Ryobi) I am confident you will be satisfied.

Good quality product
The media could not be loaded. So far I LOVE it!!! I was kind of skeptical about it when I took it out of the shipping package, the box was open, and had a couple of grease marks on it, but everything seemed to be there as described. I set it up the very same day and was very impressed by how easy it was to assemble and mount it to my drill press!!! I have just a standard variable speed Ryobi drill press, and it’s the perfect size for what I need it for!!! Thanks Amazon!!! You ROCK!!! If I could give 10 stars I would!!! Important update!!! The bearing on the bottom spindle, doesn’t seem to last very long, I had one burn up after just one successful cutting, then it locked up and fell apart. I emailed the manufacturer directly, and no questions asked, they sent me a whole brand new unit!! They need to change the cheap ball bearing, to a sealed roller/needle types that will allow faster speeds and durability, because you have to put pressure on the piece of wood that you are turning, or it’ll slip out. But other than that it’s a great concept!!

Terrible, poorly designed product. With sketchy customer service to match.
I was excited to try this product out as an affordable solution to not owning a lathe. Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that I would be unable to use this item without a few modifications. Mounting bolts are unusable on a Grizzly style press so I had to use my own mounting hardware. I had it on hand so not a big deal. That being said, the allen screw used to attach the guide rail is about 1/4 inch too long requiring me to yet again dip into my own hardware. Still, after all of this, I managed to get the thing mounted securely and properly aligned. I measured and aligned a piece of wood from my scrap bin and secured it using the screw-in type spindle provided. As soon as I touched the wood with a tool, the threaded part of the spindle snapped off. There was a second upper spindle included that more closely resembled one you'd find on a standard lathe so I tried that. Unfortunately, no matter how securely I would attach this thing it would still allow free spin and tear out, eventually cutting out a circular groove around the center connection point causing it to lose the ability to grip the wood. I understand things happen from time to time and I could see how the idea of this product would work so I reached out to the company. At first, they seemed eager to help stating they would send me a replacement. A couple of days later I got another email asking for pictures, which I quickly provided, and again was assured I'd receive a replacement. Then, in few more days later I received yet another email asking for my order number which I promptly provided. Again the company told me that a replacement would be sent asap. I was starting to lose faith as I've seen this type of stall technique used by foreign sellers hoping to outlast the Amazon replacement window, happening more and more frequently. Sure enough, a few days later I awoke to yet another email requesting yet again another "we need this to process your refund" scavenger hunt. I obliged the company's request and informed them that communication time had come to an end. They could either replace the item or I'd process a return through Amazon. I waited until about 3 days before the return window closed but I never heard any else from the company. I sent the thing back to Amazon and bought a used lathe the next day (which took about 10 minutes to set up and start turning wood once I got it into my shop). I get the idea of this, I do. It seems like it could work and, if the product was well made, it might. Unfortunately, I'll never know. Do yourself a favor and just find a good, affordable second-hand lathe. You may have to spend a bit more money but you'll be saving yourself a lot of headache.
