Solidly Built, Works Great
Like another reviewer, I bought this based on Fine Homebuilding's test of reciprocating saws. It's my first recip, thought I've borrowed others to use before. This has a nice heft to it, is very comfortable to hold and operate, and works like a champ. The day after it arrived I used it to tear through some walls so I could gain access to the attic space behind them, and then reframe the opening. It went through the studs a little slower than some other saws, and the blade is only just long enough to reach through ½" drywall and the wide edge of a 2x4, so I had to make a couple of recuts. If I did rough framing or renovation for a living, I think I'd go with Makita's top of the line saw, which got Fine Homebuilding's best rating. But for DIY home renos, this is exactly what you need, and a great value.

Having a good/right tool makes hard work easier.
Did some basic research on this before purchase and found this to be rated near the top of the recommended list. Replaced an old Craftsman that I had. Needed this to cut through lumber, nails and screws. Equipped with the appropriate blade, did a fine job. Really like the ease of changing blades. Plenty of power to accomplish the task. Comfortable to use. I have good confidence in the brand and since I'm not using it commercially expect it to last many years.

Works great!
Works exactly as expected and cuts nicely through thick pipe or pressure treated wood. Comes with a nice, hard plastic case too which is always nice for storage and keeping extra blades. Its also really quick an easy to change the blades, although it seems to always take a second or two of staring at it to remember how.

Tough and never hesitates... gets the job done.
Sure came in handy for hurricane cleanup after Irma. A neighbor's tree fell on our screened enclosure and roof. This saw made quick work of the tangled aluminum framework. Cut through nail and screws... even cut some smaller trees. It made the whole effort much easier.

When you get a good purchase on wood it just melts through
Never regretted a purchase with a Makita product. They're not top of the line but they're dependable and affordable.I've used this saw almost every day for the past month cutting brush and tree limbs, up to a few inches in diameter. When you get a good purchase on wood it just melts through. Sometimes you have to hold it in one hand and the thing you're cutting in the other because it's flapping around and the saw can't bite into it, and that's awkward, but you get used to it (and learn to minimize the need to do it in the first place by coming at it from different angles, holding it with a foot, etc.)It's had a few very minor drops onto grass or dirt, and occasionally bumped the front tip of the blade into concrete or metal, as well as gotten the blade pinched between branches due to user error, suffering no ill effects.I haven't read the manual enough to see if there's a recommended cool-down time or maximum duty time. I've cut continuously for several minutes at a time cutting up a big stump, and not noticed anything besides the saw getting pretty hot.

Not half bad
Not bad it gets the job done but I bent the metal blade when I hit a screw in my wall. I not sure I like the way you connect the blades. After cutting thru about 6 metal studs in my wall the blade was pretty dull. I’ll be buying some better quality blades for this thing. Overall I am pretty happy with my purchase.
