Q: Will this also get furniture dents out of carpet?

Put a couple of ice cubes on the furniture dents and let it sit. The dents will rise up. Old trick I learned years ago and it works.

Q: Can it clean upholstery ?

Yes! The main reason I purchased this about a year ago is to clean my recliner and sofa. For times my cats decide they want to mark territory with their stink pee. I use Enzyme cleaner solution mixed with the Bissell pet & stain solution, its the only combo sure to break down & get rid of the pee smell. Anybody with a pet needs one of these small, compact, proheat vacuum cleaners. It's a must have! Great at removing pet hair/fur off sofa as well!

Q: Can i use just water alone or does it need some type of solution/soap?

You mix in upholstery cleaner with water. You could probably use just water but whatever you are cleaning wouldn't get clean.
