This is a great product. Very pleased with it. Also like that batteries came with the product.

These are VERY sensitive. Good quality but a little disappointing when the alarm goes off before your bacon is even finished cooking! We have decided to remove the battery for the one in the kitchen and put it back in for when we are going to be out of town.But good news is your house won't burn down while you are cooking with one of these. Bad news is they sound off before you food has even finished cooking. The bacon grease wasn't even smoking.

Replaced 10 year old unit. Fits on old wall mount ring perfectly.

Kidde brand basic smoke detector. I purchased a separate carbon monoxide detector to cover it all. I would put a lithium battery in not the one which comes with it so you will not need to change the battery until the detector needs changing typically in five years. I change all my detectors on the same day so I do not have change any before the five year mark. Had this brand for the last five years will no issues. You can test it by pushing button plus it pulses a red light. Easily goes off my the smoke of a match nearby. There are many types out there and done with more than one detector but this one has worked well for me. Price is right too.

I've been buying these Kidde smoke alarms for years and have done very well with them. Thankfully, I've never had to have one detect smoke or a fire...but the way the one nearest the kitchen occasionally goes off when we're cooking tells me that they work. I wasn't sure about the wisdom of ordering it here after reading from other reviews that some alarms were either well into their 10-year life span or were actually past date. This one (ordered from Amazon, not from a seller) is dated March, 2013, so we're good for a while. Mounting bracket, hardware and 9-volt battery are included.
