It is plastic but looks fine. Better than spending 100+ dollars for a frame from the university store.

Nice for the price.
This is a nice item, but it's not perfect. If you look closely at the matting, the finish isn't great. But if you look at it from a distance (like more than 2 feet or more) for just a few seconds (like most people will), it looks fine. I would normally have given it 4 stars, but for the money it's an excellent value!
