Q: I note this box can be used for freeview (non-subscription) but is there still a slot to insert your sky card to continue with subscribing?

Q: Why are you advertising it as a 2TB box if it only has 500GB hard drive?

Sky split the 2TB disk into 1.5TB for user recordings and 0.5TB for their 'on demand' service. The 1.5TB box is split 1TB/0.5TB and the 500GB model 250GB/250GB.

Difficult to say Josie. My old Sky Box started to play up (eg freezing which meant I had to reset it by switching off at the mains for 10 mins). I am very happy with my new HD box and the much larger hard drive ( you can store loads more programmes). Be aware that the latest Sky Box is Sky Q which is brilliant but you have to pay extra.

Q: does the sky box come with all the cables required to connect to the satellite dish?

I have never bought a box with cables connecting to the satellite dish. I guess there are logical explanations for this since a) officially boxes are supposed to be fitted by sky for a 1st time box b) if it is a replacement box then the cabling should already be in place c) how long a cable do you need? In my case it was over 15m between one of my boxes and the dish. A quicklook on the web will show you its not expensive You only need 1 cable to connect a dish to the box - a twin coaxial cable - which is easy to buy, and of course the 4 connectors.
