RheemRTG-70XLP-3 High Efficiency Non-Condensing Outdoor Tankless Liquid Propane Water Heater, 7.0 GPM

Took about half a day to install it. We went out and bought a tall 23 gal. Propane tank. Got it filled for about $100. Now we will see how fast we go through the propane. We started with the temp at 120 degrees. Wasn't quite hot enough. We turned it up to 130 degrees and we are getting plenty of hot water! Doesn't take long for the water to get warm. But it's only a short distance from the Master bathroom. The 2nd bathroom takes a little longer. It's the guest bathroom, so not too concerned. The unit itself isn't too big. It's mounted to the house on the outside above where the old tank was. Actually looks very clean and nice. Hoping this continues to work perfectly for a very long time. :)

Replacing a different model of the same brand. All the connections matched without major modifications and installation was simple. Exterior mounting location. Looks to be durable. For the sake of warranty, I utilized a contractor.

I installed the hot water heater as recommended by the manufacturer. Performed the startup as recommended by the manufacturer. Started getting the code 11 once in a while but after resetting it it would run fine for a while. Called tech support and they made me run a number of tests, everything checked out to the point of the techinician who was helping me say that there was anything wrong else he could do for me and hung up the phone. I decide to replace the propane regulator knowing that there was as nothing wrong with it. Since then I have called tech support about 5 times and got the same answers. They cant explain why this keep happening and refuse to replace any part. This is the last time I buy any Rheem product and thanks to tech support for being completely worthless.

I called to get the cover for pipes long wait time 55minutes got transferred to warehouse they said yes we have 450 in stock...Cool can I get one?Yes go online and place incart select buy...You think I didn't already try that?Anyways it said in-stock placed in cart than said no longer for sale.Called next day waited again long time the said I'd have to buy a whole install kit I didn't need said okay went to buy it and wouldn't you know it unavailable.I'm very understanding but this is just a cosmetic pipe cover for a brand new unit.What if it's a important part?Heater 5 starscustomer service 1 starCould be a deal breaker for someBut I've never called competitors customer serviceI'm sure it's just a similar run aroundBest heater I've owned

Been using it now for several months. Such a difference from the old one, well worth the price. Responsive, reliable and sensitive to on and off demands.

This replaces 15 year old Them tankless heater. The only issue is I run this on 40lb propane tank and had to upgrade regulator from 3/16" id hose to 3/8 id hose. On cold mornings I would get code 11 and if I turned on second hot water faucet got code 12. The 3/16" I'd line did not provide enough volume. Likely running on regular large propane tank would likely not be a problem. Would recommend at least 3/8" id line or larger. New regulator was rated at 160000 btu with 3/8" id line. Hot water heater is rated at 160000 BTU.

I may have had 1 day that I havent had to go outside and take the cover off to reset. Code 11!!!! Talking to customer service I get the impression that they have had "problems" with the propane version. I bought this because our house is small and we could gain the space of the water heater in the utility room. However in reality it just doesn't operate correctly. If I could go back, I would have gone electric.
