this thing is amazing. get a tripod if you don't have one.
honestly, wow. won't ever go back to bubble levels again.i used it to hang curtains near the ceiling. at first, i pulled it out of the box and thought to myself "how do i get this high enough?". initially i tried sticking it to my ladder, but it didn't go high enough for the horizontal laser to line up. then i realized you can freaking tilt this thing and it will auto-level. so you can have it a few feet below the object you're trying to level, aim it, and it will produce lines up near the ceiling. pulled out my bubble level to compare and it was always dead-on. crazy.but really, it's best with a tripod. i have a Smallrig RA-S280, about $60, which i already had lying around and this Bosch uses standard 1/4" tripod thread so it worked. being able to height adjust with the tripod made it far more reliable as if the mounting surface is even slightly wobbly, the laser will be unreliable. i also love the magnetic mount option for added flexibility where a tripod might not fit.

Solid laser
Works great when you don’t feel like holding a level. You’ll need a decent tripod. I’ve used the expensive commercial laser levels and I would say this is a few steps below the higher end bosch models. Great for around the house/ light duty use. Well worth the price.

def buy on sale, one of the best low tier lasers.
one of the best, on sale it’s a steal. use 3 of these for i installing or fabricating and it makes your job easier. all the good lasers are expensive. this one is obviously not as precise and as well made but i’ll buy these when they go on sale. take care of them and your laser alignment should be good for a long time. the magnet is good and useful. red lasers oc not as visible as the greens but in a shop setting it works great

Nifty and very useful tool to own
This laser level is awesome!I purchased this to help install a TV Mount and some overhead storage racks in the garage it has 1/4-20 camera tripod threads for attachment to a tripod for shooting the laser cross hairs vertically for overhead work.Bosch is a name brand that for me has shown usefulness and quality in the products I have purchased from them.

Very handy but one flaw
I tend to put a lot of effort into trying to get shelves, pictures, and other household projects to be level, so I use laser levels quite a bit. This Bosch unit is nice in that it has a nice clear beam even in daylight. It is also a step up from cheaper units I've used in that it projects a cross pattern for aligning both in vertical and horizontal axes. For example, I mounted a column of shelves on the left side of a wall and wanted another column on the right side. Very easy with this level as I could adjust the vertical line to where I wanted the shelves to be on the right and then I adjusted the cross-hair from a horizontal aspect to line up with the shelves on the left. Easy. You'll likely find that using a tripod is the easiest way to mount this unit for use, though it does come with a handy clip attachment if there is something stationary nearby that it can be mounted to. The clip can be easily removed when not needed. There does seem to be one flaw however. When the device is within 4 degrees of level it uses an internal pendulum to auto-level itself, which is great. Most of the time this is the way to use it. When it is rotated more than 4 degrees, the beam stays on so that you can self-align for more diagonal oriented angles. Again, nice. However if you want to self-align with the laser but want to use it still within 4 degrees of level, there is no way to disengage the auto-leveling feature and just leave the laser on. There are times when I want to use the laser for a straight/perpendicular line but don't necessarily want it to be level with the horizon. There doesn't seem to be a way other than being at an angle greater than 4 degrees. It seems like it would have been easy to disengage the pendulum (which happens when you shut off the laser anyway) but leave the laser on for use.Not something I thought of before I purchased it. Maybe those more handy than me would find this to be obvious or maybe suggest this isn't the right tool for this kind of job but I'm just an amateur when it comes to home projects and spending quite a bit more for a level than I had to, I see this as a downside of using the item.
