The regular firefighters seem much better as they stay lit where as the ‘stormproof’ ones seem to go out really easily even when not exposed to any wind!...packaging on the ones I have slightly different to the ‘regular’ firelighters (shinier)...possible counterfeit?

You can easily get a fire going with these

Not perhaps any real need to review these. I think most know what happens when you get one of these going. But for anybody who hasn't had these before, they do what they are supposed to. Watch a couple of YT reviews, you'll see. Plenty in the box, and lightweight. There are many ways to get a campfire going, and in damp conditions and/or with rain these are particularly good, should be saved for that use really. Very wind-resistant also. I find it good to keep the box in a ziploc bag to keep the striker-strip dry.

There are times and places when starting a good fire can save lives. This brilliant product combines a waterproof, stormproof match with a waterproof, stormproof, long-burning tinder. My testing in wind and rain with damp tinder twigs demonstrates that these firestarters provide enough heat to dry out the damp twigs and get them burning.The only caveat is that the system will only work properly if you keep the provided red phosphorus striking surfaces dry and flat.

こういうマッチ自体は昔からあるので「新たな選択肢」というのも変かもですが、ファイアースターターでの着火が難しい状況では普通にライターやトーチを使ってたけど、このマッチを火種に焚き火を育てるのも味がありそうです。炭への着火はこれだけでは無理があるので、これで小さい焚き火を作ってそこに炭をくべる、という方が無難かと。側薬は普通のマッチのように箱の横に貼り付けてある訳ではなく箱の中に入ってます。多分この側薬はあまり耐水性は無いと思うので、袋に入れて保管、ですかね。
