THE BEST WAY to eliminate wasps, carpenter bees, and dirt daubers!!!!
I have been buying these for several years now... I just ordered 10 for this year. At under $6 on sale when i bought, they are a DEAL as I usually have to pay $10 each (but they are WORTH 10 each!!!!). Hang these BEFORE the wasps show up in spring, in a clearly visible spot, high up near the ceiling of your barn, carport, porch, or garage, and walk away. They will catch most of the wasps BEFORE they build nests and breed. You only do this once a year, I remove last year's traps as I install the new ones each spring. The first year I only had 3 traps I got out of the Jeffers sale barn for like $5 each... I was astonished at how effective they were. 2nd year I bought 6 and hung one every other rafter (so, 24' apart) under both barns, and again, astonished at how effective they were. The 2nd year in a row using these, we noticed a BIG reduction in the number of wasps even getting caught on the traps, and we had maybe 3 wasp nests show up all summer on our entire farm. They were small and easily killed. 3rd year continued this trend, we had markedly fewer wasps and dirt daubers. I have not even *seen* a carpenter bee in 2 years!! Although full disclosure, I was already using a dozen homemade carpenter bee traps between the 2 barns, and they were pretty under control already. This year we increased from our usual 6 traps, to 10, to allow us extra to hang under porches and inside the hay storage area, since they were on sale so cheap. I will be buying these every year for the rest of my life. Seriously. Gonna hang one in my window at the nursing home some day...PS- to the manufacturer- I LIKE the new style bird guards you came up with since I bought last year's traps!!! Time will tell, but they LOOK like they'd be more effective while also not blocking any of the sticky surface. 2 years ago I just left the guards off... and accidentally murdered a little bird. AND a bat!!! :( So the guards are a must, thanks for continuing to look for a better way!

Worked perfectly for us up on the third floor deck, caught paper wasps, very effective!
I'm not having any of the problems the other reviews have stated. I put my first trap up, hanging from the overhang/roof of our deck and within a week it was completely full. It was covered with 90% paper wasps, 5% flies and 5% miscellaneous bugs - only one bumblebee which I was bummed about, but no honey bees. A few beetles, one moth, etc etc. The bird guard didn't affect its use efficacy in any way. I put a fresh one up today and will snap a picture and post it when it's full. Super effective, easy to use, 5/5 stars for me.*We are also on the third floor deck. So while I see a good amount of wasps, and have to deal with their nests, we don't often get honey bees that far away from the garden. We mostly get bombarded with carpenter bees and wasps each year. Maybe this is one of the reasons it works so well for us.

Works OK, but requires some help
This does indeed catch bugs by the boatload, including bees and wasps. But... there's a bit of a trick to catching wasps. Wasps react to one of their own colony in distress and rush to that individual, so you need to get that first wasp stuck and reacting in distress. The other problem is you really don't want to be close to the thing when the wasps start to swarm to the defense. Bad.In my case, I had 30 - 50 Cicada killer hornets swarming and nesting in my yard making the yard unusable for a few months in summer. Getting the first one caught is tricky and those and very BIG hornets. I really wouldn't want to be close to the device with 30 or more of them highly agitated... Shipping was very slow and by the time this finally arrived, there was only a single Cicada killer still active. two weeks sooner would have been effective. Maybe next year...

Useless. Try something else.
Absolutely disappointed. Did not catch a single wasp or yellowjacket. It attracted the local geckos and then the stuck geckos attracted flies. It is now a beautiful addition to the trash bin.

Used to be less expensive; better than the second version; will still buy
When we first moved into our house, the neighborhood was fairly new and absolutely plagued with wasps. I have an extreme, irrational phobia of them... so much so that I basically avoided our backyard for the first 2 summers. Then one of my neighbors found this a couple years ago, and recommended it to me. I’ve followed this product for the last few summers and so far (as of July 2019) there have been three versions.Version One was basically just the current sticky pad with no shielding. It received a lot of negative feedback because birds would get caught in the adhesive (obviously not good). But it was EXTREMELY efficient at attracting and catching wasps. I wish I could find the picture my neighbor sent me of this first iteration because it was COMPLETELY covered in wasps in less than a week...But (bless them) in response to feedback on Version One, they came out with Version Two which had a super clunky plastic cage build onto it. The slats were so tightly spaced that wasps (and even flies) would rarely fit in between the plastic to reach the adhesive. It was one of the most useless things I’ve ever purchased. So this year, I was happy to see they came up with Version Three featuring a thin plastic matrix that would allow for flying pests to easily enter, and would also prevent birds and other unintentional targets from becoming trapped.Since our neighborhood has become much more developed since our first year, our wasp problem is much less prominent, but the current version of this product does its due diligence in catching any unwanted guests, and I can understand the price hike based on the added expense of providing the plastic guarding.
