It's AWESOME With My Scanner. I Wish I had Known About This Sooner!
This is one of those items that I could have been using for years if only I'd have known it existed. I have seen other converters that transmit signals over Ethernet cables, mostly ones that allow you to extend HDMI video ports, but this is the first one I've seen that works with USB devices!I have an Epson V600 USB scanner that I use to scan photo films. It's finicky about what cables it works with and it's delicate - I've had a couple of them stop working due to power surges so I actually leave it unplugged until I'm ready to scan, and then unplug it again when I'm done. To say that I was not optimistic that this extender would worth with the scanner is an understatement. Half the regular USB cables I try don't work with the scanner. To my surprise and joy, everything works PERFECTLY. Better than with just the 15-foot USB 2.0 Cable I've been using. It is currently set up with that 15-foot USB cable going from my PC to the Extender's transmitter, 50 feet of Cat 6 network cable between the transmitter and receiver, and the included short USB cable going from the receiver to the V600 scanner. Everything was completely plug and play. I plugged it all together and it simply began workingIf my finicky hardware wasn't enough of a torture test, I'm scanning with the Epson V600 via USB in a Windows 7 virtual machine on a computer running Linux Mint. Trust me - I did not expect this to work, and I am so happy it's proven me wrong. Now I can put the scanner where it's convenient for me, not just where the USB cable will reach. I've just scanned an entire roll of 35mm film and it's been rock solid. No errors, no restarting the scanner, no unplugging cables. AWESOME.I'd give it six stars if I could!

Works great. Has limitation being only 2.0. Packaging needs to be better.
This is a nice device works well so long as you do not tax the device. It will works just fine with most of the devices but for certain devices it just cannot handle. It works fine for things like my mouse and keyboard without any issues. The device itself is relatively easy to setup as the instructions are pretty straight forward from what I can tell. The material casing is okay and sturdy. It does not have too much issue with heating from what I can tell. It is a fairly light device. I am not entirely sure it is worth the price to be honest as there are limits to what this can do and other devices of this kind work just as well as this. Regardless it does work and the signal is strong so I do not have to worry about things like disconnect and such. I do feel like the packaging on this needs to be better. It is super easy to fall open. The packaging also super loose inside so it feels like something is rattling around inside the box. It is minor complaint. It does come with the power brick and only the USB cable. It does not come with any other cable. Overall this device works pretty well although there are limitation on how much it can do. Regardless, it can handle most of the everyday tasks I need it for without having connection issues of any kind. The adapters are big but light. The material makes it light weight but durable. The only thing I will say about this is the packaging needs to be a bit better.

Sturdy and does the job
I am using mine to extend my keyboard across the living room to the computer connected to my TV. It's only about 10 feet, but it works great. The cases are metal, so you don't have worry about it breaking. The setup is very easy and no driver install is needed.

Double check what you're buying
My wifi range stops about 20 yards from where I need it to be for some security cameras, and I was searching for a way to extend it. I ordered this product thinking I found the solution, but I was wrong. With that said, I am not qualified to give a proper review for it other than that it came packaged well and seems to be of good quality, if that helps. I can, however, strongly suggest that you do the research and find out exactly what you need before you shop so you don't make the mistake I did and end up with something you don't need.

Solid performance after a few weeks
I used this to connect a plotter to a workstation without having to run any additional wiring. The plotter isn't far but the cable we were using was across a walkway. Since the plotter isn't network enabled we just ran this over the nearby network port on it's own VLAN with the other side and haven't encountered any issues yet.

Great performance, solid build construction and easy to setup (plug-and-play)
This is a great unit for extending/connecting distant USB devices.I've worked with these sort of devices in the past. Without boosting the signal (passive) the maximum distance for a USB 2.0 cable is about 5 meters / 16 feet. You can boost the signal (active) and get about 30 meters / 98 feet of functional distance - but that can be dicey, especially with equipment that sends and receives a lot of data (i.e. PTZ webcams). That's where this sort of solution steps in - supporting distances up to 50 meters. This is a nice kit - it converts the signal from USB to Cat 5e/Cat6 (which is perfect as your environment may already be wired to support it - if not, it's still a lot easier to run Cat6 across long distances than just about any other wire). The instructions and setup are very simple. The unit has two USB 2.0 ports on the 'Device' side.I tested it with a webcam and it worked perfectly. BTW, the only point of confusion during installation might be determining which side is the transmitter and which side is the receiver (especially if using it to configure a webcam...). Conveniently this kit labels one side 'Device' and the other 'PC'. The AC power supply is connected to the device side (which means you'll need a power source/outlet near the device you want to connect to).Again - this is a nicely prepared kit. You won't be disappointed.
