Versatility
Second one we’ve purchased, lost the first one in a house fire. Love the versatility of k-cups or making a full pot. Added the small appliance stick on casters to help move on the countertop.

Quality Issues - Do Not Buy
UPDATE 03/31/2024: Since the date of the review written below we have gone through 4 of these units. All have failed in the same fashion, with the discharge hose on the pod heating block becoming disconnected. Each failure has been within a week of receipt of the product. There is a serious design flaw and a potential fire hazard as it also causes the heating coil to short or stop working when the house disconnects and steam poured from behind the pod lid for over a minute. Similar reviews call out the same issues. Recommendation = Do Not Buy.We finally gave up on this product and purchased a Keurig brand with a thermal carafe (Which is the key feature we sought.) To Hamilton Beach, I say fire your engineer who thought smooth output tubes on the heating blocks would hold up to repeated pressure cycles with clamps that can be compressed by finger strength alone.ORIGINAL POST:We purchased this machine, model 49920, and received it January 28th of 2024, to replace our Hamilton beach coffee maker, model 49976, that we'd had since November of 2017. Upfront, I wish we'd have gotten the same model. Our original model was used daily for years with nary an issue, until the reservoir for the large pot developed a leak.Enter the 49920, this model's review. Today is February 5th, 2024 and in the short week of having it, it's already broken. Not more than 6 pods of use on the single cup side and its leaking water all over the counter. I suspect that a hose inside the machine has melted at the heating chamber/vessel inside and now all the machine does is pump water into the internal compartment. This is for the pod side of the machine only. Also the needle clogged the second time we used it. We only use store bought pods and not the use your own grounds reusable basket. I suspect that the heating chamber stays hot constantly on the pod side, and the constant heat is what caused the transfer hose to fail. As I need to return the machine for the exchange process, I won't be able to dissect this machine and inspect to confirm the failure point. For the carafe side on the machine, brewing is as expected without issues. If you have your machine tucked under an overhead cabinet, you will likely need to pull the machine out to fill the carafe side reservoir. This machine sticks out farther than our previous model, so I have to pull it out all the way to the front edge of my counter for the lid to clear my upper cabinet. There is no heating element for the carafe, as it relies on its thermal insulation design to keep the coffee hot. This does prevent the coffee from becoming burnt, which I really do appreciate. The pour spout for the carafe needs some better engineering though, as others have noted in their reviews, as it tends to be messy. Whether this is a function of the air relief in the lid or pour fluid dynamics of the spout itself, I can't say.Overall, I will hold my final judgements on this machine in reserve for the time being, but will rate it two stars in comparison to my dearly departed model 49976. I want to like this machine, and perhaps I got a dud, but I feel as though the quality standards are not up to par with what it's replacing. I will update this review after I get my replacement and put it through further use.

CUSTOMER SERVICE DOES NOT RESPOND-DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS COFFEE MAKER
I purchased this unit in August of 2024. I thought it was a great value.I travel and only use the unit approximately two weeks a month. Since December, I have been home 7 days. When leaving in December, the K-Cup feature stopped working. When you start the system it states, OVERLOAD. I have since noticed the coffee in the coffee pot isn't staying warm. The hot plate is not working properly. When I brew a pot of coffee, I have to microwave cups 2, 3, etc. The coffee in the pot is warm/cold after 20 minutes.I have followed their directions to receive advice from CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH NO RESPONSE. I will update this review, if and when I hear from Hamilton Beach Customer Service.UPDATE ON THE CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSES:I finally heard from customer service. It took OVER 2 weeks!! I had called the 800# (don’t call and leave your information. They will never respond) and I sent several emails. I have a long chain of emails from their customer service department. I will break this down per function, so, you are not enticed to purchase this product.K-CUP FUNCTION: When it shows, OVERLOAD, you need to clean the needle of the K-Cup by taking the machine apart, removing the needle, cleaning the needle, and then cleaning the K-Cup by running water threw the machine. It took me about an hour, but, I did exactly what they told me to do. In fact, I ran clean water through the K-Cup function 3 times, so, it would not clog. Well, of course IT DID NOT WORK! The next morning, I inserted a K-Cup and by the time it had brewed 4oz of coffee, the machine went into OVERLOAD AND SHUT DOWN. I removed the needle and cleaned it AGAIN. I threw away my K-Cup and inserted a new one. It finally brewed 1 cup of coffee. HOWEVER, when I tried to brew a second cup of coffee, the MACHINE WENT INTO OVERLOAD AGAIN!!! DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MACHINE, IT DOES NOT WORK!COFFEE STAYING HOT IN THE CARAFE: According to “CUSTOMER SERVICE” the hot plate shuts off after brewing and the Stainless-Steel Carafe will keep the coffee warm. NO! IT DOES NOT. The carafe keeps the coffee warm for 23 minutes. YES, I timed it. And if the hot plate shuts off, how is the carafe supposed to stay warm?I have asked for my money back. I will update this again, once I get a response. I am extremely unhappy with this product. Not worth the investment.UPDATE 2-28-2025:FINAL UPDATE ON MY ISSUE-I wrote “customer service at Hamilton Beach” on February11, 2025 AND I RESENT THE SAME EMAIL ON February 18, 2025. NO RESPONSE!I have been out of town and today, Friday February 28, 2025, I tried to use the K-Cup function of the machine and YES, IT WENT TO OVERLOAD!I HAVE HAD IT WITH THIS NON-FUNCTIONING COFFEE MACHINE! I called Amazon and spoke with a lovely Customer Service Representative, Yugang. She was able to resolve my issue within 10 minutes.BOTTOM LINE: Do NOT waste your hard-earned money on this machine. There are several other manufacturers out there who will stand behind their product. Hamilton Beach is not one of them. I will never-ever purchase another product from this manufacturer.
