It does what is advertised without any fuss. The speeds are also close to the theoretical maximum. There is little heating when put hard to work but that us not an issue. Years ago I had the T3 which was also great but in a few years I had exceeded its maximum capacity. This T7 is twice that storage at twice the read and write speeds. I installed the software and used so far the firmware update feature which went fast. After updating I had to physically unplug and replug the drive so it reconnected to the computer. Luckily the instruction to do that was prompted by the software otherwise I would have panicked thinking the firmware update had damaged the SSD. One thing I did not like about the T3 was the false rubber edge that over the years got this sticky disgusting feeling. With cheaper electronics I would throw then away but over the years I learned how to safely clean that stickiness away. The T5 and the T7 seem to have removed this rubber edge and I hope all manufacturers do so or find a coating that does not become sticky with time. I opted for the T7 Shield for the protection it offers and now it seems the entire drive is covered now with rubber I fear the day I will need to remove the stickiness and I hope when I do so that it's iP65 rating protects it while I am cleaning and that the cleaning will not affect its protection properties. For the time being however I can now work with huge file sizes once again at SSD speeds since when the T3 could no longer handle my needs I had to go to an HDD and the speeds were miserable for the past few years. Highly recommended if you need the capacity and speed and that your computers match the T7 speeds. Remember that to get the theoretical maximum read/write speeds of up to 1,050/1,000 MB/s the computer and used cables must support USB 3.2 Gen 2 and the UASP mode must be enabled. Now if the T7 could support Thunderbolt 3 or 4 speeds it would be a dream come true but let's wait for what the future brings.

Este es el de 4 TB (que sólo está en negro). Es súper pequeño (más de lo que esperaba).Para usarlo en el MacBook Pro M1 Pro lo formateé APFS.Cogí este modelo en febrero de 2023 porque acaba de salir y quería un 'último modelo', y porque este modelo entendí que tiene cierta memoria caché (volátil) que otros de otras marcas por lo visto no tienen, y que le sirve para 'tragarse' mayores cantidades de grandes bloques de datos de repente y hasta que los puede guardar efectivamente grabados.Yo hasta ahora tenía un problema y es que todo mi archivo de años de trabajo y fotos lo tenía en un disco externo HD (un disco físico) y cada vez que tenía que buscar algo tenía que ponerse a rodar y buscar, de forma que tardaba más tiempo del que sería deseable. Bueno tardaba ya sólo en acceder cuando no lo había consultado por un gran rato. Y esto hacía que no aprovechase la velocidad de mi MacBook Pro M1 Pro (porque al estar el archivo fuera del ordenador y ser un disco físico, tenía que rodar y tardaba en acceder). Y con este es justo lo que quería: el acceso es prácticamente inmediato, como si esta memoria externa estuviera dentro del propio MacBook. No noto 'delay' o retraso en el acceso (o súper mínimo, o sea que mucho mejor que antes con el disco físico). Así el disco físico que tenía hasta ahora lo voy a usar para TimeMachine, para copia se seguridad, porque ahí no importa que tarde en acceder al disco porque no tienes que hacer consultas ni nada y te da igual que no sea rápido (ya hará la copia de seguridad automáticamente cuando quiera y tardando lo que tenga que tardar).Espero que me de buen resultado porque realmente este disco como lo voy a usar como archivo/memoria externa, no va a tener muchas reescrituras. Sin embargo parece que no está bien indicado para copias de seguridad automáticas tipo TimeMachine, porque esas sí que sobreescriben continuamente el disco y estos discos SSD tienen el problema de que se degradan antes con una escritura/reescritura continua.El material como aterciopelado de fuera está muy chulo, por cierto.

Schön handlich und sssschnell. Die mitgelieferten Kabel haben für mich genau die richtige Länge, um an der Rückseite gelegene Steckplätze benutzen zu können und die SSD auf dem PC zu platzieren. So ist die Steckverbindung Kabel <==> SSD auch von vorne / oben erreichbar, ohne umständlich unter dem Schreibtisch rumturnen zu müssen. Die Speicherdaten und die Handhabbarkeit tun ein Übriges, so dass ich rundherum zufrieden bin.

I needed a decent hard drive to store my music catalogue for DJ-ing. This offering from Samsung looked to be my best option. It's a nice compact size, has a rubberised outer & hopefully will be durable & reliable. Only time will tell but so far, I'm impressed. Its also a high speed drive, so transferring files is pretty quick.

Das Laufwerk hält, was versprochen wird: Es ist wirklich überraschend schnell. Eine solche Geschwindigkeit ist man von externen Laufwerken nicht gewohnt. Die Daten lassen sich auch ganz einfach per Passwort schützen. Für ein externes Laufwerk, mit dem man schon mal unterwegs ist, eine prima Sache. Wäre da nicht ein winziger Wermutstropfen: Werden die Daten per Passwort geschützt, kann man am iPad nicht darauf zugreifen. Die Verschlüsselung unterstützt nur Android, MacOs und Windows, nicht jedoch iPads. Das ist ein wenig schade. Trotzdem: Daumen hoch.
