I have shelves of books on leadership and have consistently found that, as a pastor, the best ones are the short ones that do not take much time to get to the point. The strength of this book is in its breadth and practicality. The weakness is that it isn't exhaustive, but it clearly wasn't meant to be either. This is one of those books. It covers three dimensions that a biblical/pastoral leader must be regularly evaluating: Character, spiritual power, and practical methods. The first section is simple yet edifying in its focus on the call to ministry and the foundational integrity required. The most taken for granted but also, the most important. The second section is often not included in books on Christian leadership, it focuses on the spiritual realities that advance and resist the kingdom that exists behind the practical leadership skills. Which, is what the third and final section is about. Very practical and valuable to implement.If you need a one-stop shop at 200 pages. This would be at or near the top of the list.I received a copy of this book and was not required to give a positive review.
