Great, dependable, quiet unit!
This is my second one and it has a few subtle improvements over the one we purchased about 10 years ago. Still uses the same connectors so all my old pads work with it. Still super quiet so you can sleep undisturbed and work on your recovery. The new lid latch does not take as much effort to open but still keeps the lid securely shut so no leaks/spills. We have had zero issues with the old one until the hoses just became brittle and cracked but we have certainly gotten more than our moneys worth out of it over the years so we purchased an new one and so far expect the same performance out of it. Great buy for ice therapy

Works so well when you need to ice!
I borrowed a machine just like this when my left hip was replaced and it worked amazing and felt like heaven. Now I had my right hip done and I bought this same one and icing is easy, convenient, and wonderful. The pump does all the work maintaining the cold temperature on the pad. Great help in recovery.

Ice pack works better than this expensive machine
I ordered this a few weeks before my knee was being scoped because I wanted to be sure I had it in time and I wasn't sure how long it would take to receive it. I got it quicker than I thought I would (based on how long I've waited for other amazon items I've ordered). It does NOT work well at all! It doesn't get cold enough. It is a waste of money! Do not order this machine! I attempted to return it due to the fact that it doesn't perform AS DESCRIBED by the vendor. Both the vendor QUANTUM DENTAL AND AMAZON are refusing to let me return because it was ONE day past the 30 days for returns deadline. I explained to both why it was past 30 days, I got it so early ( not typical for amazon vendors) I had it for weeks before my surgery and hadn't used it until AFTER my surgery. Tried it 3 times adjusted the setting to max and it still didn't work, I had to switch to ice packs that actually work. I now own a $175.00 (cost of machine and pad) door stop and use a functional ice pack from Walgreens on my knee! I was a frequent customer of Amazon I mean WAS. This mess with the ice machine is a deal breaker. I'm done with Amazon! Urgent care makes this machine but the seller is called Quantum Dental! Their customer service is horrible, don't do business with them!

Oh, so wonderful!!!
I’m having ankle surgery one week from today, and I received this device today...in time to have some trial runs before having to operate it by myself at home post-op while on drugs. I read all the way through the instructions before doing anything, then I went step-by-step with the instructions during set-up. Couldn’t have been easier, and it feels soooooo good on my sore, swollen pre-op ankle. Previous reviews mentioned and showed photos of disintegrated hoses, but the photos appear to show possibly an older plastic version of the tubing. The tubing on mine is very substantial pliable rubber. It’s actually rather heavy, and I can’t imagine that it will disintegrate any time soon. I am using frozen ice packs in the reservoir with the required amount of water, and it’s circulating ice cold water through the pad. For now, I can say without reservation that this was a wise purchase. I anticipate that it will serve me well post-op. I’ll try to remember to update this review in a couple of weeks.Update - 08/04/18I have been using this pretty much 24/7 for the past week and a half post-op. For the most part, I’ve used frozen chemical ice packs inside, instead of ice, alternating with a couple small glass food dishes filled with water and frozen. I’ve all but stopped using the chemical packs now, though, because after repeated use they start to break down and leak bits of gel into the water. I’m sure that’s not great for keeping the tubing clear. Live and learn. I still swear by this unit and feel like it has been a lifesaver to keep the bruising and swelling almost non-existent after surgery. That’s saying something, since I am on lifetime Warfarin. I had to go off it and bridge with Lovenox prior to/after surgery, so I’m very prone to bruising. I dreaded what I expected for bruising/swelling post-op, so I have been pretty aggressive with using this machine, and it has paid off. Once this ankle heals, I have to have the other one done. Hopefully this machine will still work as well for the next one. If not, it’s been worth every penny this time around.

This product is easy to use
This product is easy to use, except for two issues. 1. (minor) The cover is a bit difficult to open. 2. (major) In order to fill and empty the reservoir you obviously must carry the unit to a sink. There is no obvious way to removed the hose from the unit to make it easy to carry. As a result, you must carry the unit. hose and cuff. Why they did not add a coupling at the unit is a mystery. By the way, this basic unit does NOT come with any cuff. This is clearly indicated in the name of the product, even though the picture shows one attached to the hose. I noticed in some other reviews that people claim it does come with one. There is a second model that does come with a cuff, at a price reflecting this. If you need a cuff for a different part of the body, clearly you should buy the unit ONLY and the appropriate cuff. My wife recently had a full knee replacement. She knows that cold therapy is very helpful to reduce pain. The problem is that everyone has provided different instructions for how long and how often the cold therapy should be applied. Her current therapist said to use the device for about 20 minutes, no more than once an hour. This is what we do. I do not empty the tank in between uses. All I do is check to see if there is still ice and add as needed. Of course, at the end of the day, I empty the unit and make sure to drain the cuff and hose. Lastly, since my wife had a knee replacement, she lays in bed while using the unit. You have to place it on a stack table or something else that allows the control, for cold adjustment and power, to be in easy reach. I suggest the unit be set up at least as high as the cuff being used so as not to strain the motor and allow gravity to help move the water. My wife feels it is very effective, especially because she can use the dial to adjust the temperature or turn it off, and certainly much easier than using ice packs.
