Mr. Peanut's Gold Series Standard Size Expandable Pet Carrier (Tropical)

I thought I’d add lots of photos, because I don’t think anyone has shown this pattern yet. I soooo wanted this carrier to work for my dog, but she is just a little cramped, so sadly I need to return it. She is 21 inchs nose to where her tail starts, 15 inches from top of head to floor, (about 12.5 from top of shoulder). We will be flying to Europe and I want her to be as comfortable as possible. I can’t bear to put her in cargo, so I need to find a carrier that works. Also, she is about 15 lbs, and with the weight of this carrier (at least 4lbs), it just feels risky. I really wish the Big Apple XL version came in this fabric, I’d probably go for it despite the weight. Even a plain Teal would be nice. Things I love: either end door opens, so the expandable part can go different directions depending on need. All materials and craftsmanship are very high quality. I like the idea of a thermal pad, though I wish it was clear if that is just for warmth or helps when it’s hot also. I like the options for a privacy/warmth coverings on top and side. I love that there is a door on the expandable part.Things I don’t like: the part of the thermal pad that folds out into the expandable part does not stay perpendicular when the expandable part is folded up (a small piece of Velcro might help this), but rather must be folded under your pet, which could be challenging. As I have noted, I wish this pattern of fabric came in the larger size. The width of the carrier could be wider, I think the airlines would be ok with this? I understand the need to keep height lower to fit under seat, though if there were an easy way to remove the poles that give structure to accommodate the carrier under seats, that would be great, and then maybe the carrier could be a tad taller since it could be adapted to be squished more easily. Right now I think it would only squish about an inch. I do wish it could be a little lighter in weight, though I’m not sure where they could cut corners to do that. It would be nice if the storage pocket were solid fabric instead of mesh, don’t think that would add too much weight. Lastly, the opening in the top needs to be bigger, and if it were I might be tempted to keep it. But if my dog is sitting up with her head out the top, which would likely happen as she was being carried,, it is difficult for her to navigate getting into a lying position when it’s time for her to do that. Even just a little wider, if not longer. At any rate, this is a stylish, high quality carrier and I very much wished it worked for us! Lucky you if it works for you!

So first of all clearly a lot of thought went into designing this. They nailed the small details like velcro to hold flaps in place when opened, zippers that cats can't easily unzip, comfortable carrying grips and strap, etc.The only thing is, if you're buying this for a cat, then they won't want to lie down directly on the "thermal comfort pad". So just add a small fleece blanket on top of it.

We travel from FL to CA and he doesn't mind being in this comfy little bag for the extended travel. He's rambunctious, large and will occasionally rip into it; sharpening his claws or stretching but he'll also sit in it on his own. It has fit under all the seats we've been in (though first class seems to provide a smaller under seat experience and is sometimes tighter than coach...). I love this bag and will be buying another for my new baby girl (kitten) as well.

Very nicely built carrier, on the outside it looks roomy. Inside, it is actually quite dark and feels more cramped. Bought for a PCS move, but none of my four cats will go in it, even for treats/catnip. They sniffed the outside, and that was the extent of their interest.

Just what I was looking for and perfect because it fit in my luggage for the flight out but I was able to put it together to bring my cat back with me. Very sturdy well put together. Even a psycho cat is not getting out of here. lol

The only think I don’t like is the color. But they had non available that I liked. Other than that the carrier was strong and the zippers did not move around. My cat though is on the calm side. He tried to open the zipper but was unsuccessful.

I’ve used Mr. Peanut products for years, always with complete satisfaction. I can’t say that about this item.It arrived with no rigid fleece covered insert, and with some of the mesh panel fabric caught up in the stitching, preventing the extension from opening completely and laying flat. I hope this is a one-off, and not a decrease in quality control from this company. Back it goes.

I was always looking for the perfect soft side carrier until I found this one. I like the design and pattern. Great details to make it stand out in so many ways. Meshes are double layered. There’s curtains on sides and top to give cats privacy. It’s also expandable. The panel is attached securely to the bottom. My cat instantly fell love with it. See how cute she is in the carrier!!!!!!!!
