Speed Metal at its apocolyptic best
This album, like much of Megadeths early stuff, has a strong theme running through it, allthough its not a concept album. The theme is basically that of war, though the focus is really on the nuclear haulocaust that most people where expecting to happen any day during the 80s. Having said this, the songs do stand up in there own right, allthough, even though they are perfect in their execution, some of the songs (Lucretia and Dawn Patrol) are not quite as good as others (Hangar 18 and Five Magics), but then how could they be?The album has some great production, and the playing is as tight and accurate as thrash metal gets. My personnal favourite is Hangar 18, which is inspired by the Aliens supposedly kept at Area 51, allthough the real highlight comes at the end of the of the song, with a series of incredible solos featuring Marty Friedman and Dave Mustaine at their best. This album residides firmly in my top 10 metal albums of all time. I defy anyone not to enjoy the sheer intensity of this album!

Brilliant trashmetal!
This is a brilliant trashmetalalbum by Megadeth. Trashmetal is definately an aqcuired taste. It takes a while to get used to, and you may not immediatly hear that this is brilliant music. So those used to softer, fluffier kinds of music, be warned, this might not be your thing.
