You might not need a fit system.
This switch is a great device as are most engenius products. You probably don't need a fit managed system as engenius cloud is so easy to configure. All fit devices are nearly identical to their cloud only counterparts sans firmware. All fit devices are considerably more expensive. In the latest residential system I did, I used the 400 watt version of the 24 switch. With over 2000ft of cable and 15 access points, including 3 outdoor units in a particularly challenging environment, I'm only using 95 watts out of the 400 watts available. Plenty of room for heated cameras etc down the line. From my experience, sometimes the cloud versions are actually easier. However, fit devices don't require ongoing licensing or monthly/yearly fees.Side notes: In a home environment, try to run in mesh mode with a wired backhaul only. You will never achieve higher than 850Mbps on any given access point. For the most part leave the power settings alone, only reducing the power of certain devices to aid in handoffs to more desirable devices. Client tracking and handoffs don't work well with lower security schemes. Lower security settings severely reduce speeds. Double check that the switch changed the default password to your chosen password system wide to all access points. This requires proper management vlan settings. Hope this helps.

Slow switch, web manageable
This switch may be OK for most people but I am in a latency sensitive environment and the switch takes twice as long as other switches on my network to process packets. I returned this product.Dislike:* FitXpress web app only allows you to manage port descriptions, vlans, and view switch statistics. All the other features need to be managed locally.* Packet processing is twice as slow as other switches. Ran a constant ping over several hours and the average response time was 6ms. My other managed switches respond in 3ms. There would be frequent latency spikes around 130ms and even as high as 500ms. I tried different cables, computers, and ports on the switch but the issue persisted. This was all over wire, no WiFi involved.* No documentation. Their website does not have any documentation on how to use the features on the switch beyond the quick start guide. The FAQ page they have setup is lack luster.* The backup config is in binary format. Unable to see or edit the backup file.* All changes are committed to the running/memory/boot config. If you make a change and lose access, you have to factory reset it and restore from backup.Like:* The local web gui management is easy to use and understand. Dark mode.* All metal body.* All ports PoE.* Physical power button.

Meets my needs in a small not-for-profit
I use this device at a small not-for-profit with ~6 employees and volunteers to which I provide technical support as a volunteer. It's nice to be able to support the network and check on the status from my smart phone at home.I use this alongside 3x EnGenius Express Wi-Fi beacons through the building, hosting 3x Wi-Fi networks. One thing to know: the "Express" software is only sufficient for simple setups. For example, there are no IP reservations and no manual routing rules. It's my understanding these features become activated if I purchase additional products (Fit Cloud Controller, IIRC). I'm okay with this. The express tier was sufficient for our needs, and I might upgrade later if those needs change. And one final word of caution - when you make changes in the Express software, all of the managed devices will then reboot to take the configuration change, and this can take a while. Although the ease of making the changes from home mean I can do them at night when the building is empty 😅 .

Died after 14 months
I purchased an EnGenius 24-Port Gigabit PoE+ Switch last August expecting it to provide plenty of room for future expansion of my small network. I only went to the 24 port because I needed POE and more than 8 ports. The EnGenius switch worked fine up until this Saturday when, according to the logs I had, two Access Points and a small switch that were attached to it suddenly stopped seeing the internet, at exactly 12:00:00 noon. Directly attached devices continued to work fine. After several hours of debugging I found that switching ports for the failed devices on the EnGenius switch restored internet access. The time may be a strange coincidence, I initially figured maybe some kind of packet storm caused some kind of glitch.Tonight, 2 days later, I decided to take a closer look at things. Everything looked fine from the EnGenius console but I found that it only kept 50 log messages on the device, and of course enabling external logging was something I was planning to get to some day. I decided that I should at least ensure the device could still reboot. Well it reboots, but all it does is reboot, and then reboot again. It doesn't ever come up far enough to connect via console and a hard reset on the device does nothing.I'll spend another day debugging and update if I get anywhere, but at this point I would highly recommend that you do not waste your money on one of these devices.

Not as great as I hoped for.
Having previously gassed red Engenius witches I found this FIT switch a bit off a let down. For some reason I was expecting the SFP ports to be SFP+. Second I expected the RSTP to work but I only ended up with switch loops. Over all I got them working for my use case but I much prefer the Engenius switches that are the cloud ones and not the fit ones.

works as advertised
This switch arrived within a couple of days and works as advertised, getting our network back up and running quickly (it replaced a switch that failed).
