Highly recommend
Very happy with this purchase! We've been using it for a few months with my 81-yr-old father with early dementia. It has prevented missed doses and him making medication changes on his own. He does not try to break into it (as mentioned in other reviews) so we're very lucky and this dispenser has been a game changer. It's a little complicated to program, my dad would have no way of doing it on his own, and it required us taking out the manual for the first few refills until we got the hang of it. So, if you are purchasing this for a family member that lives in another state, you will need to have someone local that can refill it.The volume is plenty loud and I like that it repeats for 30 minutes until the medication dose is removed. The phone app works well and is great for documenting that doses are taken. We've also used it when my dad needed a medication released early due to going to lunch or a dr's appt. It's great for travel since it locks to prevent spilling and isn't too large to fit in a backpack / carry-on. Just know that you may have a little trouble during flights with the alarm times because it adjusts to the phone app's wifi (we learned this recently on a trip) but you can certainly work around this if you're aware ahead of time.If it wasn't so expensive, this would be a great purchase for anyone that's taking medications at multiple times throughout the day since we all forget!

Great product, some little flaws
I purchased for a family member that has dementia and lives alone. We are trying to help prolong them being in their home. They take medicine 2x a day and wanted to make sure they were actually taking. Sometimes even with a phone call it wasn't happening. The initial set up wasn't bad. I did have to factory reset 2 times. One: something happened in set up and the tray was resetting every time it "dispensed". Then I had tried to set up at my home and then take over. But I couldn't just switch the network when I got there and the customer service said I had to reset. Well at this point setting it up was old hat anyway. Both timed I had to talk to customer service they answered right away and were pleasant and easy to understand. After reading some reviews I added some notes to the top with paper and scotch tape. 1. An instruction to tip the pills out when the alarm goes to make it stop. 2. Slide with an arrow pointing in the direction to slide open the compartment when the alarm went off. 3. A note that says pills with an arrow pointing up over the "open"Pros:-Notifications from the machine every time medicine is taken (or not taken)-Notifications for low battery-Pretty easy set up-Auditory and visual indicators to take meds-Doesn't stop until it is taken or the time limit on the alarm-Can allow meds to be taken early via app-Customer service-Locks to prevent being opened and tampered withCons:-The plug is just a USB cord. It would be better if it was affixed in the back. It can be knocked loose in 3 places where it connects to the machine, where the USB connects to the plug and where the plug goes into the wall. This has become an issue.-The app doesn't notify you it has been unplugged. If you open the app you can see if it is, but no notification until the battery is already low.-Battery is a backup. Not sure how long it runs for, but I don't think it's days.-Afore mentioned inability to change the network in app.-Sometimes the app isn't very intuitiveOverall this is a great product. It has really helped with medication adherence and peace of mind. Worth the price tag and no monthly fee.

Super helpful for dad's Parkinsons pills
We've only had this for about 2 weeks, but it's been a game changer. My dad has advanced Parkinsons (diagnosed about 12 years ago) and he has the associated dementia/cognitive impairment. We can assist with his other meds as he lives next door, but the Parkinsons meds have been a challenge since he takes them 5x day and we both work. So far, this has been amazing! Since it's locked, there is no way he can accidentally take too many or take them at the wrong time and I have the app set-up on my phone so I can see while I'm at work if he took them on time. So far, it's been working perfectly. Prior to this, we were using a pill box with 5 comparents and a timer, but he was still taking them wrong. With this, it's been going smoothly. Set-up was a little annoying with connecting the wi-fi and the app set-up, but once you get past that minor annoyance, it's great. Highly recommend if the person has adequate family/caregiver support to track and refill the compartments.

Lock latch is breakable
I purchased this device to ensure my mother was only getting one dose of her nighttime meds. Her dementia had caused her to forget taking meds and then take additional doses. The unit was strange to her but worked effectively with repeated explanations and notes to explain. However, one night when she was convinced she needed to get at the pills inside, she pried the lid open with a butter knife by breaking the plastic latch hook.Love the specialized key, but whole lock mechanism should be metal. I’d also recommend that the back up battery be secured with the same key. Too easy to remove battery if the unit is unplugged.Level of users memory loss and curiosity may make this unit a poor choice.
