Excellent Tool for Location Overlays and Virtual Walk-throughs - Insta360 GPS Action Remote
I recently purchased the Insta360 GPS Action Remote for a series of virtual walk-through projects and location-based recordings I was working on, and I have to say, it's been a game changer. As a commercial photographer and videographer, the precision and reliability of my equipment are paramount. This GPS remote does not disappoint. The setup was straightforward, allowing me to sync it with my Insta360 camera without any hassle. The build quality is sturdy, which gives me confidence during fieldwork. Its compact size makes it incredibly portable, fitting seamlessly into my gear kit. What impressed me most is the accuracy of the GPS tagging. Whether I'm doing a virtual tour of a real estate listing or documenting a hiking trail, the location overlays are precise and informative, adding significant value to my visuals. The ability to record the location for virtual walk-throughs is invaluable, especially when creating content that requires geospatial awareness. With the Insta360 GPS Action Remote, I've been able to provide clients with an immersive experience that not only shows the visual journey but also integrates the geographical context—all of which are crucial for interactive documentaries or engaging marketing materials.Battery life is robust, ensuring I can get through multiple shoots without worrying about running out of power. The wireless connectivity range is also commendable, providing me with the flexibility to control my shots from a distance. The Insta360 GPS Action Remote is an exceptional accessory for any content creator who values precision in location-based services. It enhances the storytelling aspect by embedding location data into the footage, making it perfect for virtual walk-throughs and much more. Highly recommended for its utility, build quality, and the professional edge it brings to location overlays.

Affordable option
This remote is more affordable than the $150 version which provides a view from the camera’s lens. This remote provides on/off/record/pause functions which are your essentials. It comes with two silicone straps, one for your wrist to wear the remote and a shorter strap to secure the remote to a handlebar. The utility of the more expensive remote with built-in screen is questionable when used with the 360 cameras as there’d be little need to ascertain what’s in the frame of the camera as a 360 captures it all. The remote is well built and has an internal rechargeable battery. Recommended.

it's better than using phone to connect
It's better than using phone to connect because the phone needs to be always on and the connection usually breaks for phone. The connection between this remote the 360 is reliable and it's really fast to wake it up. The only thing is sometime the connection will be lost and you have to reconnect it again. But overall it does job. I just wish gps can be build in 360 so that we don't need a remote to track gps.

Works, but about half the time
Took it for a ski trip, and I see that about half the videos have GPS information. Note, this was under clear open skies, so no issues with being indoors so not seeing satellites. Hopefully this problem will be fixed with a firmware update. Using it with X4.

Must have
If you're using the 360 camera this is a must especially when you're off-roading and have it attached outside of your reach

Not useful
I bought it to control an Ace Pro.Initial pairing was easy and yes, I could start a video recording. However there are many issues:- I am interested in Interval pictures. That is not available on the remote. You have to select that mode on the camera itself. Not a huge issue, but it reverts to video each time, see below. Note that also applies to other modes.- It is losing the bluetooth pairing when you power it off. I have to re-pair them each time.- If you turn the remote + camera on, and do not take a picture right away, the camera never sleeps. It drains the battery rather fast. In other words, you cannot have the camera on long standby, hoping to wake it up where you left it with the remote.- If you turn off the camera and then later press on the remote, the camera does wake up in video mode and you cannot stop it from the remote. The remote is then no longer operating the camera at all. It does not remember the previous mode and you cannot stop the video recording from the remote. There is a serious bug here.- The screen would have been nice +10 years ago. But in 2024 you expect a lot better than an grey LCD (the type you had on watches in the 80s?)- There is no indication that the charging of the remote is done. I left if several hours on the charger and it does not tell you if it is fully charged or not.- If it does so little, why is it so thick?

Great accessory for motorcycle recording
I wanted this for the GPS functionality and it does that perfect. I also wanted to remote control the camera as sometime I have it on my helmet and the remote is easier that trying to feel the buttons. Also, the record button on the camera is tough to press for some reason. I saw some reviews complaining about the battery on this but to me so far, it seems to last. I think it's usable while charging so there's always that. I'll update as I use this longer. I do wish it were cheaper but it's not unreasonably priced. To me, it seems pretty straightforward to use.

Very useful when camera is mounted somewhere out of reach
When the camera is mounted on the selfie stick or on a car mount or elsewhere out of immediate reach this allows starting and stopping video easily. Autocrossing and want to turn on the camera mounted on the roof when your run starts? Just press the button on the remote. The remote is pretty lightweight, but well made and comes with a strap extension to wear, for instance, outside your snow jacket. Rechargeable with USB-C
