Easy to use and the results (if positive) are not subtle so you know for sure if there's lead.

If testing RED paint - read this review before purchase!
I found that home test kits aren't readily available in the UK, unless you find one in a specialist paint shop. There are plenty on sale on US websites, and I have bought other items from BIC WAREHOUSE on Amazon, so was happy to purchase and wait a few weeks. The delivery was fine and the product (I'm sure) is generally fine, but the description doesn't tell you that testing red paint for lead might be a problem - and this test is no use to me. It was only upon cutting the pack open and reading the instructions that I discovered this. In summary, if you are testing red paint, you will need to test the paint first using spirit vinegar (and a piece of kitchen towel should suffice) to see if the paint bleeds. If it does, the test is no good because the indicator for lead is that the strips turn red. If the paint doesn't bleed, you are okay to proceed with the test as any colour change can be attributed to the presence of lead. Do the spirit vinegar test first, and if the paint doesn't bleed, then you can order the test!

I finally found some lead! It works!
I cut the strips up like someone suggested in the reviews. I have used these strips on many things with NO change in the orange color. Today was different. I used it on a souvenir mug that I bought at a yard sale. The mug looked like it was produced during the 80's or 90's so I decided to test it to be safe. I used very little R.O. water, enough to get the small square wet, then I squeezed all remaining water out of the dropper, and I used the dropper to move the square all over different areas on the cup.I flipped the strip over to check the side I had on the surface of the cup, and it was pink. It took many seconds to show up and I might have pressed too hard because the strip of material started to come off.

Impressive packaging but not a great product
Impressive packaging, but that is where the quality of this test kit ends. Inside the package is a little plastic bag with 2 tiny, (fingernail size) paper pads and an eyedropper. Pads are really not large enough for any serious testing, and disintegrated almost immediately. Test results are difficult to determine. when you wet the pad with a couple of drops of water from the eyedropper, the test pad may take on the color of the paint you are testing, making the test difficult to read. Seems most of the cost of the test went into the packaging. Waste of money and time.
