Hi, there is no black in the surface, but it is not what I would call pure white. As with most polystyrene foam, the foam is formed from bubbles, which are cut to make the sheets. This gives a certain pattern to the surface finish. I cannot say what the reflective properties would be - we used it to block light coming into our church windows when we were showing a video presentation and it is very successful in that role.

Have successfully used the sheets as back drops and as large reflectors. The surfaces were a good white and fleck free.

Is this “closed cell” non absorbent? Or does it soak water up?

Hello Tony I have just soaked a couple of off cuts of this material for 2 hours in water then broke both pieces in half and applied a piece of toilet tissue to the two broken surfaces and both remained totally dry so I would say that it does not allow the ingress of liquid.
