I'm delighted this much loved book by Maria Treben, that has sold numerous copies all around the world and translated into many languages, is finally on kindle. What I love most about this herbalist book is that it is so easy to read and find what you are looking for. It gives colour images of most of the herbs mentioned in the book can be found in the back pages. And throughout the book in black and white illustrations showing it's botanical or Latin name and common names. To use this book; I simply look in contents page or in the index for the complaint I want to treat and heal. I then turn to them pages, which gives a number of pages that suggest treatments for that health condition. Most people familiar with this book will know that it popularized Swedish Bitters an ancient remedy for many health conditions. It is ideal for the beginner and advanced herbalist to further their knowledge. It mentions how and when to gather your own herbs and the right way to gather, store and prepare them. Methods of Preparation, herb teas or tisane infusions. How to prepare tinctures extracts. How to make poultices and a compress. How to prepare Herb Baths and a Sitz Bath. Ointments and oils. You may have heard this phrase many times before, but it's a book that I wouldn't be without that every home would benefit from having a copy to study and use.

A1 information! if you are looking for alternative medicines for yourself and family... Accounts of peoples experiences by the writer after suggesting to ill people to try her herbal understandings of what plantsherbs cures what and what happened... Herbal plant life made for teas food etc that support the body... I liked the information that: Dandilion roots and leaves cleanses out toxins form the Liver and Kidneys and that the Kidney if difficient with polutants/toxins affects vision and related eye problems... And if the Liver is poluted with toxins it can be the cause to Diabeties... So a simple regular dosage of herbal dandilion Tea drank regular' and/or Marigold Horstail Yarrow ect. may help... Amazing remedies from the garden and they really work. I had been suffering from hot sweats/flushes for months, 3-4 per hour sometimes, when i decided to try some of these teas. I purchased them from Amazon (Lady's Mantle, Yarrow and Mistletoe). This was a week ago, and within 2 days i was having maybe up to 10 hot flushes (not sweats) a day. This woman was amazing. We have started taking Swedish Bitters and feel much more focused and clear-headed. My husband has some issues as well and has started taking Horsetail and Stinging Nettle teas and is feeling a lot more comfortable. The medical profession had previously been unable to find anything wrong with him apart from being a little overweight! If it helps us feel better it must be getting to the cause of our problems.
