A nearly new machine for the price of Windows 10 software
A great value way of obtaining Windows 10 for only a little more that the cost of the software, whilst avoiding the hassle of trying to install it into an existing computer. My unit was supplied by PCsandParts, a trading name of CFA ltd which is an authorised Dell refurbishment partner. The unit had a 2.9GHz processor and a DVD writer installed, so above the guaranteed spec. Came well packaged and apart from a bit of dust in the crevices of the casing and a couple of marks which wiped off with a damp cloth, it looked as new. The lid on this Dell SFF machine is held on by a spring catch and so I had a quick look inside and it was very clean. It all worked fine out of the box and I was able to reinstall Office 2010 from my original CDs. The only issue was Outlook 2010 which requires a download of Hotmail connector to synch calendars with other windows devices (I have a Windows phone), and for some reason you have to delete the outlook.com account and reinstall it for Outlook to accept the account password. I was able to export all my Outlook e-mail files from my old machine and import them into this one, so I'm very pleased because I've got all my old files transferred. My old Vista machine was creaking - it was slow to access internet pages and would not print from any Office documents or from Chrome/Firefox/Explorer browsers. On this machine my internet page load speed is much better.

Very good
Perfect budget machine for hooking up to a telly, and media keyboard. Some minor issues - i) came with a clover lead, whereas it needed an iec, ii) the dvd module wasn't fitted properly, and had slipped back into the case, iii) the front facing fan had quite a bit of dust packed in, however these were easily remedied. I would have removed a star for these, but...the DVD is RW ! Have the star back ! It also seems to have a choice of Win7 or Win10. I am still generally sticking to Win7 on other computers, so its nice to have a budget one to practice Win10 on.The niggles might have been frustrating for somebody not comfortable with opening it up, and not having a spare power lead handy, but for me it is really good, and well worth it.

Customer Service, what Customer Service!
Very disappointed overall. On contacting customer services, which has very restricted hours, I was told that I should open up the computer to check that the ram chips were properly seated as they often come loose! I have been using and upgrading computers since the quips, and have never been advised to open a computer as this normally voids the warranty. The problem was that the monitor would not receive any data, and remained blank! After recording a pledge that the warranty would not be voided by opening the "box", I found the ram properly installed, with the resting clips in place. After cleaning event plug and socket, the monitor did eventually work, however, as the screen flickered, which is unacceptable, indicating a faulty connection somewhere in the electronics, I have decided to cut my losses and return t he item, it isx notg acceptable to expect a customer to undertake work on the internals. In 30 years of sending and recieving computers by courier, this is the first time I have heard of a component, held in place by secure clips, needing to be repeated by a customer, who, let's face it, is unlikely to use an anti static grounding lead at least, an d repair a problem with a supposedly refurbished machine. I have performed anumber of window installs, but on checking the Microsoft label, the first set of digits have a non removable sticker over them, making it impossible to register the install. With a flickering screen, and now the possibility of being unable to register the operating system to me, leading to my returning the system. The fault lies not with Amazon, who provided their normal high standard of service, but with the refurbished. Dell produce very good machines, so I put the problem down to the seller. It is, to my mind not acceptable to expect a an unqualified customer to repair a machine, possibly voiding the warranty. Their tech support is only available via e mail, hardly an easy way to resolve a problem when e mail for many, is only available through their computer. Not everyone uses a phone, or wants to use a phone for this purpose. Frankly, their customer service is very restrictive, and far from easy to use to resolve a problem. They will not be receiving my recommendation, except as an example of how it should NOT be done.

Slow
Very good, but slow. Could be Windows 10 slowing it down

great basic tower pc
I was a bit concerned about buying this pc . howver after reading other reviews I took the chance. This was bought for general use only for studying and basic functions. its not a fast computer at all and probably is only just faster than my works pc.it did have a couple of scratches on the surface as mentioned in the description,we set it up and very happy with it windows ten is there but please note you will have to buy word or office if you want to use this for anything other than email or surfing the net.I bought the amazon protection for pcs with it so this is covered for five years although like most pcs I would only expect three years out of thisif its a basic pc with windows ten you want by this its worth it if you have a keyboard and monitor alreadyit can be used as a tower or desktop due to design so is flexibale

Fantastic desktop PC base unit as looks brand new and ...
Fantastic desktop PC base unit as looks brand new and was very easy to set up and use. To verify windows you have to scratch off a small silver panel on the unit to reveal the full licence number (which is explained on a leaflet). The print is very small, so would recommend taking a photo of it on your phone or tablet and enlarging it to read the numbers and enter them to use windows. I also bought a plug in unit from another seller to transfer files off my old desktop drive to this one via the USB socket which was easy to do. Great item at the fraction of the price of a new one.
