At last a proper scraper
You can buy a scraper in a discount shop for a few quid but they are useless. They tend to be too flexible and the blade tends to be too blunt. When you’re removing layers of gloss with a heat gun it gets a bit tiring when you’re literally using a blunt tool. This scraper fits nicely in the hand and goes through paint like butter. What’s more my hand doesn’t feel like to falling off after hours of use! The wooden handle and brass rivets gives it solidity and its narrow blade allows access to annoying bits of paint that seems to congregate in awkward places. All in all a great little tool that should last a good number of years.

Very nice to use and so cheap
I bought this to remove paint and I wanted something super cheap. It’s thin enough to do the smaller bits around a doorframe, it’s long and thin and flexible enough to get under the paint, not stubby and strong, more thin and flexible. Highly recommend.

Perfect for smaller gaps
Got this for the inside of door frames when using a heat gun to strip old paint off the doors and it fits perfectly. I actually prefer this one to the bigger size one I had before as it fits into ever nook and cranny. Ideal for DIY

If you want an in-depth answer try searching 'spring steel'. Scrapers tend to be blank-cut which means that they don't have a worked edge like a knife does. I always work the edge with an oil stone to give a slight gradient of maybe 80 degrees then hone. If you do this it gives you a sharper side edge and a blunter, more gentle side edge by flipping the scraper over. I also round the corners so that it doesn't gouge."}}]}]}
