Portland Course Plotter (with 7'' divider) Kit

Bought as a present. Recipient is very pleased. He now has another Winter project: charting his route from the Clyde to Mull and beyond for next year. I've even caught him wondering about a circumnavigation of Ireland. Funy how an apparently small spark can ignite big dreams.Arrived quickly, safely packed in a huge box, a problem with odd sized packages. Well made, substantial and fully fit for purpose at a very competitive price. Recommended.

Great value

Just use the dividers really, prefer a rolling rule to the plotter now. Good quality, have seen better as these feel a little loose at times but served me well through first lot of exams.

Very Happy with both the divider and plotter, I thought for the price that they may not necessarily be BH but I was wrong. As with all BH dividers ( in my experience anyway) there is an adjusting screw at the fulcrum, so should these become loose or initially too tight, this can be adjusted.BH Plotter also to a high standard ( as always) and was put into use immediately. Product was well packaged and delivered within 48hrs of the order being placed.Perfect result, I would give 6 stars if I could.

This is no cheaply made budget plotter. It is made in England by the Blondell Harking Company the instructions are well written by James Stevens the RYA National Coach. Even the dividers are solid brass and are a prescision piece of equipment very good for those doing the Day Skipper course or to keep aboard when the Chart plotter etc fails. I would highly recommend this product and the company who stocks it.

Quick delivery and a really well packaged to ensure no damage. Only slight gripe with the callipers is the hinge. Understand the arms need to be offset to pass each other but there is a significant ‘kink’ at the point of the hinge causing them to bind. Loosening the screw without being too lose does not improve this. Result is it is difficult to have smooth open and close for ‘accurate’ distance measuring. Yes, electronics make this less important, but then why have it in the first place. I like to use paper for planning as a backup, not going to quit on me because of a power failure. So, this could be improved.

This is a very nice plotter usefull in all types of navigation both on land and at sea. It is well made and should last quite some time. The divider are a standard good quality marine divider with stainless steel points mounted on a brass body. Divider tension can be ajusted with a large screw at the joint of the two arms. I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about.
