YES it is BPA free! On their website it clearly states "No currently manufactured products contain BPA". Here is a link to Rubbermaid's website regarding BPA http://www.rubbermaid.com/Pages/LearnAboutBPA.aspx It gives information regarding the products they made in the past that did contain BPA. Since they make their products here in the USA, I feel they hold themselves to a higher standard than plastics made overseas.

The bowl is the same but the lid is different. I love the bowls though, nothing stains them and they freeze things well also. I have two of them.

Q: Why are the q&a referring to bowls when this is a rectangular set of 2. very confusing. therefore not ordering them!!!!

Because Amazon shows you a rectangular set of 2, and then sends you serving bowls instead...I had to go through the hassle of returning a whole bunch of them, definitely don't order!
