Best humidifier I've bought!
We use this whenever our children or us adults have stuffy or blocked noses or colds and coughs. It makes a huge difference to their sleep. I've tried around 5 humidifiers and always end up binning them due to not being able to clean them properly. All except this one have been unable to be cleaned inside the actual water tank. This humidifier is brilliant. It is so easy to clean. I followed other advice to clean the water tank by putting a Milton sterilising tablet in it (I use half a tablet for size of tank). I use distilled white vinigar to clean the base of the unit. The water tank size can last over a whole evening. You can vary the intensity of the mist. You can also put the vicks pads in the side compartment but we prefer to use olbas oil in the blue tray for essential oils. The cable is long. I'd recommend using a dehumidifier in the room after use as otherwise there is a lot of moisture in the room which can cause mould. Would highly recommend this machine and I've tested so many! It is essential for us during colds and coughs. The price is also very reasonable.

Large, serious humidifier
The media could not be loaded. This is a large humidifier that has superior an adjustatble output. It requires some setting up and although it's all in the instructions, these are not that easy to follow at first glance and I think that Vicks should revisit these. Once assembled (it's easier than the instructions lead you to think) the humidifier is ready for use.To use it, open the top - or take the top part to the tap and fill. It takes a huge amount of water around two litres to fill it up, connect the power and turn the knob to your required intensity. Unlike the myriad of cheap humidifers out there, this has a much large ultrasonic unit and at full blast gives off a lot of vapour. One area - or maybe two that it differs radically from all the others I've tried is using it with essential oils. Every other device I've used, you add these to the water; but Vicks tell you repeatedly not to, and will invalidate any warranty if it's used with these oils. Instead there's a recepticle that you can use which just heats them or you can use Vicks scented pads with a RRP of around eight pounds. These fit in the side - you can see this in the photos and the quick video I shot. The other area where it differs is that it tells you after three days to clean it and there are further weekly and monthly cleaning instructions in the documentation. It's a nice unit but big. Not being able to use essential oils, and relying on Vicks limited range of pads is something that looses it a star for me. I can see us using it however, for the cooling effect in the summer. If it's an high output humidifier you want this would be a good choice.

Good
Really good and seemed to help my daughter, but wish the pads weren't so pricey.

Not bad
It does the job, and has definitely helped my chest at night, it's unfortunately though just so hard to clean!!! There's so many hard to get places and I've ended up breaking little bits off because I'm trying to clean them. Some bits I can't get to properly. Other than that though it does work great, it's just the cleaning I find a nightmare.

Love it
This has been great with all the family using it. I started with a cold and stuffy nose and used my daughters face steamer which helped me breath easier but wasn't practical. I looked at all options and chose this one and it helped hugely. Since then I put it on for my 7 year oldgrandson who is prone to hard bogies which impact his sleep and has helped clear them and his breathing and even my mum who is 78 and has copd found it helps. The vics pads don't last long but I'd probably still buy again.

Easy to use, good size and does a good job
I don't have the strongest of chests and often succumb quite easily to coughs and phlegm lingering in my lungs. As such I was looking for a better inhaler/humidifier to allow me to get some steam and warm air into my lungs to help fix things quicker. The first thing about this unit is it is a big one. A really good size tank so it can be on for an extended length of time. Combine that with the really smart dial that reduces or increases the mist volume and it's a good piece of kit. The direction of the mist can also be altered easily and that is also a plus point. The unit allows you to add either Vicks own pads via an easy to access side drawer, or you can use essential oils of your own via a panel on top. Either are very easy to use and I have a collection of oils I like so I will continue using those. The unit disperses the oil in the mist and it's really nice to relax and do some breathing exercises with. The cost is a little high but on offer I would definitely consider it an excellent purchase. Overall I would recommend as a great unit for those who need some help with chest or nasal congestion.

Beeps the whole time! Had to return
The machine itself is great but it beeps every second!! The tips on here don’t actually work on the white model as the yellow button people recommend pushing doesn’t actually exist on this model. Not ideal for use overnight which was the one reason for purchase, so have returned and ordered the blue model which seems to have the ability to stop the beeping.
