Thanks for your question. Yes, we recommend that you first drill the holes in the handrail with a 5/32" drill bit. Then tap the threads in the hole with a 3/16" screw. Finally, put the 3/16" screw in.

Q: I see ha33 b4 to post the end straight into a wall; however, i'd like to post beside a wall so that i can use for support down. is this possible?
