Finally a well made IR designator that isn't a box meant to mount behind an FSB
Until this product, IR aiming lasers have basically only been available in 2 form factors: an offset box meant to work behind an FSB or a handgun dustcover mount. On a free float tube or chassis rifle, they're either bulky, awkward or both, and all require a pic rail. This mlok direct unit is slim, narrow, and perfectly suited for a variety of mounting locations without being obtrusive or difficult to manipulate. It's also more powerful than I expected, which could be positive or negative. For me, it's a negative as the size of the beam and bloom at short range obscures the targets I intended to use it for, pest control on the farm at 50 yards or less. It will completely obscure say a racoon at 25 yards. Using an IR illuminator reduces the bloom perceived, but not the beam size.I tried to limit the output using 2 layers of polarized filter but that had no effect as it must have been filtering the wrong wavelength. All that said, happy to see the product, in this form factor, it seems very well made and the limited amount of use I've given it, zeroing and a little plinking for fun, I've not had any problems with it.

Good Enough For The Price
You won't be shooting sub MOA at 500m but for CQB, out to about 36 yards it is solid. There is a noticeable wash out of the laser on certain materials but very intuitive to use. I do wish it was only a solid beam, and not the added strobe feature, you're not using this to mark combatants so the strobe is a little over kill. So far, has held zero with expected parallax when zeroed at 36 yards.

Pleasantly surprised
I got this as a major, major backup. I have two Dbal 9007’s that I run. That said, it’s lasted 2 years, thousand of rounds, and is brighter than the Dbal aiming IR and Illuminator combined. Way, way brighter. Under gen 3’s it lights up the entire barn.

awesome
I bought this to not be seen at night while using my night vision unit the laser is highly visible and easy to use.You just need to be mindful and turn it off after use as you can not see if its on or off with the naked eye.Its lightweight and small enough not to get in the way of other things and you will either need to have M lok or buy an M lok adapter plate which you can find easily here on Amazon.I would buy again if I need to, and am happy with my purchase

too bright
this is way to bright to be useful with analog night vision devices and will completely obscure the target.

IR laser is way too strong
The IR laser is so strong that it overwhelms NV equipment inside of 50 yards. If you're reaching out to 1,000 yards this may be a good choice but for most people it's just too strong. This is a 5 mW IR laser, but a max of 1 mW is more realistic for most users.
