Great problem fixer. Hopefully I won't need it again, ever. Definitely a great purchase though. I have a few neighbors that are welcome to use it again whenever they need a fixer too. Easy to recommend cause it's exactly what you need.

it really works
I needed to clear a very long outside drain. I did not want to spend a lot and took a risk. i did not think this would work but.... it did, you just need to keep adjusting the handle to the length required for the blockage (in my case that was several adjustments) but it worked very well.

This snake seems to work ok, but if you have an older home like we have with cast plumbing and lots of turns in the pipes it may not work for your needs.

Tough to navigate corners
This item was purchased as refurbished, as I assumed that as long as the product wasn't damaged, it wouldn't be the type of product that 'used' was a problem. Full disclosure, the handle used to navigate the auger around corners was missing the set screw, so I immediately planned to return the item. I decided to try to test the product out a bit before deciding to return or exchange. I dry fit some lengths of PVC pipe with 90-degree angles just to get a feel for the auger. I had issues turning the tip of the auger around the first turn, about 5 feet from the starting point. This would never make multiple turns which is really the point of buying a 50' auger. Also, note it may be the used version I received, however the cable was fully greased which rubbed off on everything it touched. Fully agree with the other reviews which recommend a large bucket for the auger. As I was returning the item, I chose to keep the auger contained in the box it arrived in, however there was a point it skipped out of the box and shot out like a spring. I was able to corral it back into the box after losing only a few extra feet, but I'd recommend a high-walled bucket, I get the feeling if the cable got away from you, you'd end up respooling 50' worth of cable.

50' Drain Auger
We have an underground drainage line from a gutter downspout to a garden about 50' away. Leaves and such sometimes clog the drain. This tool made cleaning it out fast and easy.
