“We’ve met before, haven’t we?” A mesmerizing meditation on the mysterious nature of identity, Lost Highway, David Lynch’s seventh feature film, is one of the filmmaker’s most potent cinematic dreamscapes. Starring Patricia Arquette and Bill Pullman, the film expands the horizons of the medium, taking its audience on a journey through the unknown and the unknowable. As this postmodern noir detours into the realm of science fiction, it becomes apparent that the only certainty is uncertainty.DIRECTOR-APPROVED 4K UHD + BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION FEATURESNew 4K digital restoration, supervised and approved by director David Lynch, with new 5.1 surround DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrackAlternate uncompressed stereo soundtrackOne 4K UHD disc of the film presented in Dolby Vision HDR and one Blu-ray with the film and special featuresPretty as a Picture: The Art of David Lynch, a feature-length 1997 documentary by Toby Keeler featuring Lynch and his collaborators Angelo Badalamenti, Peter Deming, Barry Gifford, Mary Sweeney, and others, along with on-set footage from Lost HighwayReading by Lynch and critic Kristine McKenna of excerpts from their 2018 book, Room to DreamArchival interviews with Lynch and actors Patricia Arquette, Bill Pullman, and Robert LoggiaEnglish subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearingPLUS: Excerpts from an interview with Lynch from filmmaker and writer Chris Rodley’s book Lynch on Lynch

4K/Blu Ray
The 4K/Blu Ray set is a BILLION times better than the DVD and, long before that, the VHS. As most people know, in terms of narrative, this is a rather complicated movie, and I have never counted myself among those who “understand” it. However, the sound and picture quality are so greatly improved, that I’m picking up tons of visual details and dialogue nuances (you can actually understand what people are saying!) that are helping me make better sense of this lovely film.

Beautiful film
This is probably my favorite David Lynch film, and Criterion has made sure it has never looked better.

An incredible film but not much extras
One of Lynch's best and this looks and sounds great. Probably even better than whatever theater you saw it in had the ability to exhibit it. But typical of Lynch films, there isn't much in the way of extras and no commentaries. Lynch also doesn't allow chapter breaks to be built into his disc's, so your player might run into problems as it gets longer into the film as it is just one giant file to read. This has been a problem since the first DVDs and on almost every player. I wish a trusted friend told him that chapter breaks were needed for the technology to work. His films were shown in a number of reels when they were on film after all.

One of Lynch's best! I wasn't sure I could live in a world without him...
I bought this because I hadn't seen it in at least 10 years and you had to pay for it streaming anyway (until he died and then it was on Kanopy). Anyway, I'm proud to own this film. Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway and Wild at Heart... as well as Fire Walk With Me will always be my favorites. Though they're all magnificent in their own right.
