These heavy-duty hoes are perfect for clearing fire lines. The sharp head cuts trees up to 1" in diameter as well as large weeds. These versatile tools can also be used for breaking up sod, cultivating crops, and other garden work. The ferrule is welded directly to the head, and a rivet and adhesive in addition to a pressure fit secure the handle to the head.

Great - exceeds expectations
Very heavy duty - this isn't your suburbanite hoe that gets used once a year, this thing is thick metal that comes with a sharpened blade. the blade can be resharpened when needed.Handle is long and larger in diameter than a big box store cheapo.

From a professional gardener and landscaper: Get this hoe.
This... THIS... is what you need for weeding. Understand, it's not the only tool that you will need, because it's impossible to get the best results with only one. But this HAS to be part of your arsenal. Here's how I know. In our family landscaping and gardening business, we get a LOT of requests for weeding. If you try to do it all by hand, you will lose your mind, and it won't take long. So here's how to weed like a pro. :) Let's say you're working in a bed with some low shrubbery, ground cover, and not much else. Weeds everywhere.1.) If it hasn't rained in the last couple of days, you must water the ground the night before. Really not kidding about this.2.) If there are leaves and debris, blow them out, preferably with a backpack blower-- then you'll be able to see what you have left. Bring a large bucket around with you with a garbage bag in it. Throw weeds in that.3.) Take out larger, clearly defined weeds with long taproots (like dandelions) with a standing weeder. Fiskars is good. With practice, you can remove an awful lot of weeds this way before doing anything else. But there's no way you'll get them all!4.) This is where the hoe comes in. Methodically hoe the rest of the weeds out with long, slow strokes (not chopping up and down.) The edge really needs to be at least reasonably sharp. Get it sharpened regularly or do it yourself (although to tell the truth, this never seems to work quite as well.) If this is too difficult, you probably didn't water the ground the night before! ;)5.) There are ALWAYS some weeds left, so use a farmer's knife/hori hori tool to get those out.6.) If it's been raining for days on end, things will be a mess, but sometimes it's going to be six months until it stops raining and that's just how you have to do it. You will really feel the benefits of this method in that case.6.) Some free advice...while weeding, DO NOT bend at the waist, and NEVER EVER straighten up at the waist from a bent-over position. Set your feet first and make sure your lower back is arched. Then straighten your legs. The best way to get the last few weeds out, quite honestly, is not on your hands and knees, and not sitting down. It's a squatting position. Yep. You read that right! And yes, you can do it!! I had ten knee operations before I was 20 years old, and that's how I do it.Over time, you will kill your back, shoulders, arms, and hands weeding any other way. Believe me, you will. I have had MANY years of physical therapy, and I'm passing the knowledge on to you. :) So get this hoe!

Fantastic Hoe !
I had to think long and hard about spending the money for this hoe. But I'm sick of crappy tools that bend, break and don't do the job. So I decided to go for this one.Holy moly, what a hoe! It's great. It's super strong, sturdy, and the blade is very sharp - so beware! I love that the blade is wider and bigger than the normal hoe you get at the hardware store. The blade is much thicker, sharper, and wider. I LOVE it. In fact, when my neighbor wanted to borrow it, I grabbed it and said, "NOPE!". I won't lend this awesome tool to anyone. I was able to clean up my flower garden with hardly any effort since the blade is so sharp and well-designed. This was sooooo worth the cost. Now I finally see why buying quality tools is worth it. I guard this hoe like I would my wallet. It came well packaged with the blade covered by thick cardboard. It's worth noting, be very careful with the blade. It's far sharper than cheapo hoes you normally buy. This thing is a work of art and I'm sure it will last as long as I do. I'm glad I spent the money for it. I'm planning to do a garden next spring and I'll use this. I have no doubt this will take out grass with very little effort. Work smarter, not harder! This hoe does that for you.

Awesome tool. Stubby handle
I think the tool is great. Made quick work of my overly weedy garden. Was like a cross of a sledge hammer and a razor blade. But the tool from end to end is 40 inches. Which is pretty short for a hoe which made it a little difficult to use. I’m five foot so it only required a little hunching to use, but I would have liked a little more length to make it easier on my back. But it was still less tiring then using the sad excuses they call hoes from other places. So because it has more the length of an ax then a hoe, I give it 4 stars. But it definitely will make quick work of anything you need it too.

Wow—I have evidently never used a hoe before!
The heaviest hoe I have ever used (in a good way), the sharpest and thickest iron, and it will make short work of some trouble areas that have been giving me fits, where I know I can go and get the job done when I want to, and with it actually completed, and without dread. Let it be known that the shipper took great pride in his product as evidenced by the meticulous attention to detail in the packaging: using a full sized box with thick plastic, cardboard, paper, and bubble wrap. Very impressive. It actually took a weight off my shoulders (a dread) I didn't even realize I was carrying about how hard it had been to weed previously, and that it was such tough conditions I very rarely could finish, and had never been to my satisfaction. I am glad I ordered the 7" over the smaller one and would advise so unless you had a specific need for the smaller one. I tell you it is stout enough that when I picked it up, I was like whoa this may be more of a tool than I wanted (even though I was also initially excited about the ruggedness/heft of it at the same time), but then it worked so well the heft didn't bother at all. To give you a comparison, I had previously tried grandmother's 50 year old stouter-than-box-store hoes and quickly put it down with a "yeah right," as it didn't work, nor make a dent. I had let my yard go from how I liked to keep it, because of the hard conditions in trying to maintain it, and now I am looking forward to recapturing my beds, and not having to do the drive/walk of shame when talking with the neighbors because there were some weeds in the beds when everyone else's were pristine. Arrived in true Amazon Prime two days instead of the new faux Two Day where they actually allow three days
