Unusual use but it works well
I got this tape to insulate toroids when winding wire on them for antenna transformers for amateur radio.(Ham Radio)This is thicker than the usual teflon tape and works much better. Not the usual use for this product, but it work well.

Great for brass, not too good on plastic
Like everyone, I suspect, I hate PTFE tape. Always foldingover or coming unwrapped, yet essential for making good waterproof joints. I love this thicker tape. I can cut off the right length, wrap it around the thread, and complete the joint (where it stays put), all with minimal hassle. However, I found that this works only with brass joints. With joints in plastic fittings (such as I use on my drip irrigation system) the tape seems too thick to be manipulated by the rather weak threads (but this may be because I haven't got my technique right yet). However, since many people say that tape isn't necessary on plastic in any case (because the threads distort when tightened and form a seal by themselves) I'm not very worried about this.

Larger than normal roll
Larger than normal size roll. Thick tape.

Thicker than white tape. Perfect for PVC pipe.
I use this tape for PVC because it takes fewer wraps to seal a joint. You need more tape to seal PVC joints because the threads are molded rather than machined, and over tightening can damage the threads or crack the fittings. With 3–4 wraps of this tape, hand-tightening is usually enough to get a good seal.

Pipe Wrap Tape That Works
This stuff is tough as the name applies. For years I have used regular Teflon tape and always end up having to re-wrap the pipe or joint. The problem with cheaper versions of Teflon tape is that it shreds and can leave gaps that do not create a good seal, unless you really know what you are doing. If you aren't a seasoned DIY plumber, which I am not, then you'll love this stuff. Plumbing repairs can be so stressful, you don't need any more hassles. I used it on PVC threaded pipe for my outdoor water storage tank connections and it's holding up perfectly. Worth every penny.

Needed more PTFE tape said this was thicker?
I don't see where this is any thicker than the standard PTFE tapes I currently have.It is good PTFE tape and use around 4 or 5 wraps for a good seal.More if I suspect a loose fitting pipe/connector.Those Chinese fittings will leak every time if you don't use enough tape.
