Bandai Hobby Space Battleship Yamato Andromeda Star Blazers 2202" Model Kit (1/1000 Scale)

The ship looks good and depending on your level of detail you can assemble it in many ways you like. You can simply not paint it at all and just snap all the parts together which can take about 4-6 hours if you work at a moderate pace, or you can take it a step further and paint the ship to a different color scheme or add weathering effects. There are some parts where it can be confusing and challenging to put together, but in the end you will reach it. One good thing is that the model does not require glue in any part at all meaning if you want to disassemble some parts to repaint them, modify them, etc, you can easily do it without having to re-glue anything or risk damage. The ship itself is great and has lighting for the bridge, engines, and wave motion cannons, and sounds too. The main problems really is that the ship has a lot of spikes, and thus they can be fragile and break off so you need to be careful (can't really blame them since the design is from the show) and also that since it's connected to a power source that is in the stand you can't separate the ship from the stand without removing the electronics.Overall a great build and a beautiful looking ship. I recommend getting the smaller Dreadnought too.

I just finished building the Yamato (2202) and that model did NOT come with the lighting pack. The Andromeda does come with a nice lighting and special effects dock. Very easy to build. Shouldn't take you longer than 2-3 hours tops to build. The instructions are in Japanese but the illustrations are so easy to follow that you won't need to know how to read Japanese to build this. Compared to the Yamato, this ship is HUGE. Very satisfying and easy to build. I bought this for $120 on Amazon which is actually a steal since the local stores at Japantown in San Francisco was selling it for $175 (whu? why!?)

The lighting kit is adequate. The Wave Motion effect is really cool, but I think the colors for the engine lights are off color wise. other than that your typical Bandai kit.Would love a cheaper version without the lightingGreat detailsEasy to put together thanks to a very thorough step by step picture based instruction manual despite the lack of an English translation

Ok This is the Deal I have 3 different Andromeda Space Battleships. This one has the GX 58 Andromeda size, and a few special effects that is it. It is not the GX 58 Soul of Chogokin that is the one to get, large lots of sound effects accessories and built ( Strong ) . Save your money and spend the extra couple of $ 100 or less and get that one. You will be 100 times Happier. This one is only for building and never really touching it very weak sad to say. My opinion not worth the price way way to expensive. You will thank me. Grew up watching TV shows in 70s and 80s and lived in Japan I wouldn't be a good old school fan if I didn't warn you. Now if someone would just make a large scale Comet Empire. Enjoy Mr.J

Looks great have not built it yet but looks so cool now

Received this incredible model from my wife as a Christmas gift this year. I remember watching the TV anime “Starblazers vs. the Comet Empire” series back in 1979/1980 as a teenager & this brought back many memories, I built it a few days after Christmas & wanted to share with those who may be interested in buying one. It’s highly detailed, (L15” x W 3” x H 6”) some glue required & comes with light kit to add to show off engine lighting & the “Wave Motion Gun” effect.
